Can I extend my Non B visa in Thailand after receiving my work permit, or do I need to exit the country to obtain a new one?

Hi all, I'm currently in Thailand on a Non B (single entry obtained in my home country) waiting for my WP. Am I right in thinking when I get the WP I will need to exit Thailand and get a new Non B from Thai embassy in KL/Singapore? Or can I go go immigration in Phuket and extend/change it?

Also if I do need to exit, has anyone had any experience of getting a Non B at the consulate in Bali?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the process of extending a Non-B visa after obtaining a work permit while in Thailand. There are two main options: either to extend the Non-B visa at an immigration office within Thailand or to exit the country and apply for a new Non-B visa at a Thai embassy or consulate in another country such as Malaysia or Singapore. There is also a question regarding experiences of obtaining a Non-B visa at the consulate in Bali.

a lot is gonna depend on if your employer can provide you with the documentation to get an extension at the immigration office

OR

If they're going to have you go to a thai consulate and get a year-long multi-entry Non-B..
