My yearly contract came to an end so my visa was up, I cancelled my work permit and went to immigration and got 2 months extension based on having children and waiting for my new job to start, immigration told me get all your paperwork in order and work permit and come back before the extension expires and they will further extend my visa to working again, (hope this make sense,) anyway applied for work permit and got a call today saying they can't give me a work permit because of the extension on my non B for visiting my kids, can anybody tell me if this is correct or not,,, why would they tell me I can then tell me I have to leave the country to obtain a new non B
TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is facing issues with obtaining a work permit after their yearly contract ended and they received a 2-month extension to stay in Thailand based on having children. Although immigration initially indicated they could eventually extend the visa to a working status, new information from the labor office suggests that a work permit cannot be granted while on an extension to visit family. This situation raises questions about the consistency of immigration advice and the rules governing the non B visa and its extensions.
