TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling to Thailand from November 24, 2022, to January 11, 2023, presents a choice between applying for a visa in the UK or extending the 30-day visa-free entry. Commenters suggest either obtaining an eVisa before departure to avoid in-country issues or opting for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office in Thailand. Notably, during high season in December, obtaining a tourist visa in advance may be advisable to manage potential delays at busy immigration offices.

You can do either the extension at immigration or apply for the SETV before you leave. However, I'd recommend getting a tourist visa and there is a reason why - the dates you are traveling.

December is high season and particularly with all the public holidays, Immigration offices will be super busy in the more popular locations. You can always risk Immigration but if you're somewhere like Bangkok, you going to lose the better part of a day getting there, getting the extension then returning.

Simply go to immigration office and get the 30 day extension at your leisure. You can apply as soon as you arrive

Aye but still a nightmare to apply. Thought they would of dropped most of the shit you have to upload by now but still the same from last year. Talk of them giving us 45 days visa free instead of 30 if so prob just take the 4 day fine for overstay 2,000bht 🤷🏼

It's easy, I've done it twice recently, just a few uploads and you don't have the worry of onward travel proof within 30 days
