TLDR : Answer Summary
For a UK passport holder traveling from Langkawi to Koh Lipe and planning to stay for about 60 days, there are two main options: you can either apply for a tourist visa before your arrival for a 60-day stay or enter Thailand without a visa which grants you a 45-day visa exemption, followed by a possible 30-day extension at a local immigration office.

Are you taking the boat from Langkawi to Koh Lipe? I have wanted to try that travel path. Let me know how it goes.

Either apply for a tourist visa before you come to Thailand, and you'll be stamped in for 60 days on arrival.
Or enter without a visa and get stamped in for 45 days visa exempt, then go to the local immigration office and get a 30 day extension while you're in Thailand.
be prepared that you may not be able to get the extension from the office on Lipe and might have to head to Satun or Hat Yai. The office on Lipe is not a normal immigration office.
