TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a 30-day visa expiring on May 27 and is considering staying until May 29. Comments suggest two options: apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office for 1,900 baht or pay an overstay fine of 1,000 baht (500 baht per day) when leaving. Several commenters advise against overstaying to avoid future immigration issues, suggesting that obtaining the extension is the safer legal route.

@Ana***
hopefully you have enough information to make an educated decision on what to do.

Good Luck (y)

It makes financial sense to risk being deported and Blacklisted to save 1200 baht.
Ron *******
You don't want a deportation stamp in your passport wether you are coming back or not.

I guess it depends if the OP is just a tourist not likely to return for long time or soomeone whi lives here on visa exempts which does not seem the case or they would probably have not asked the question :-)

Just pay the 1,000 baht fine when you leave, save yourself about 1200 baht for extension and taxi to changwattana

If you don't have a TM30 done and need to go to immigration outside BK I would pay the fine. It took me 2 days and 3 trips to get mine done and had to do tm30 same time lucky I was not fined for that.

@David ******
Pay the fine if you have to. The extention of stay has nothing to do with the TM30, which was basically my origional point. Always better to stay legal and not overstay, even if it is just for 2 days

Thats why I mentioned if they had to visit immigration outside BK. Reently on here it appears TM30 getting more of an issue in many places outside BK. Yes if in hotel then hotel would have filed it but they did not say if they were in hotel for over 30 days. Many people use airbnb like I do, some landlords on airbnb file them some dont. Just saying that these days people looking to do more than 30 days probably better off getting a visa in the first place to avoid having to go to immigration to extend exemptions.

@David ******
depends where they are. Bangkok arent and many imm offices arent bothered. The OP is on a visa exemption, if they stayed at a hotel/guest house/resort then its not her problem. If she was fined then just pay the 1600bt.

@Steve ******
surely if they want extension and go to immigration and they have not had a TM30 filed, they are likely to get fined for that on top of the 1900 for extension? I went to Prachin and they asked for mine, had to drive back to get inlaw's written permission to do TM30 on their behalf, also had to go to police station for a replacement tm6 exit card (at least that was free a I did not have 2 baht on me only 1000 lol) all of this for 2 days extension i needed, same as OP.
Steve *******
It's nothing to do with the TM30, and I certainly wouldnt advise anyone to overstay, in any country, and "pay the fine"

a two day overstay stamp is about the same size as an extension of stay stamp. :/

There is no such thing as a 30 day visa :/ , so that means you have a 30 day visa exempt entry. :)

You have two choices;

Go to the immigration office in your area and apply for a 30 day extension for 1900baht

OR

just pay the two day overstay fine of 1000baht (500baht a day) at the airport when you fly out.

To be "legal" you should go get the extension at the immigration office. Plus that way you won't have the overstay stamp in your passport either

Thank you this is very helpful :)

Apply for a 30 day extention at your local immigration office for 1900bt. Otherwise you'll be on overstay

Go to immigration and extend your visa. Most likely you be charged for overstay at the airport
