Good morning, my husband and I have a 60 day visa purchased in Australia, it expires on the 7th September but we do not fly out untill the 11th

September... Can we just front up at the airport when we leave and pay the fine of 500bht per day?? Will there be any other fines?? Will we be allowed to enter Thailand again next year?? Is there a section at Suvarnabhumi airport that we have to go to to pay the fines??? Any information on this matter will be of great help.. thanks..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is concerned about overstaying their 60-day Thai visa, which expires on September 7th while they fly out on September 11th. They want to know if they can simply pay the overstay fine of 500 THB per day at the airport and if their future entry into Thailand will be affected. The community suggests applying for a visa extension (costing about 1,900 THB) to avoid the fine and potential complications when attempting to re-enter Thailand in the future. Some responses highlight the risks of being caught during a police checkpoint or if their passport is checked before arriving at the airport. Additionally, there is some discussion about the need to comply with TM30 reporting requirements for places of stay.

best to apply for an extension. Book into a hotel and ask they they register your stay and go to immigration 7 days before departure.

You won't get deported, jail, arrested or wtv for few days overstay. I know some people that got caught at checkpoint in bus recently with few days overstay in-route to Myanmar and the cops did not arrest them. But the cops sure love to arrest Myanmar people that are here illegally at those same checkpoint. They have a list of priority, white person from *rich* country with few days over is not one of them.

Thai laws are bend everyday by cops, *case by case* scenario. If it was one day overstay I would say don't extend but since it's about same price u should do the extension and not because of risk of deportation but because u never know when a embassy might start looking at overstay and denied further visa.

The choice is yours: 500 Thb a day overstay, with 4 days that will be 2.000 Thb a person or 1.900 Thb for an Extension of Stay. Be aware that when the passport get checked before you reach the airport it will be jail, judge, fines, and deportation at own cost plus 1 year blacklist.

Just curious. How does that happen

BAD ADVICE! If caught jail and deportarion. Ban one-year.

My guess is that

does not want to pay the 1,600 fine per person for not filing TM30.

Crazy rule of TM 30 upon arrival within 24 hours is catching many people unaware. Though its condo owners responsibilty to file it they are not.. probably to avoid having to pay income taxes on the condo being used as a rental.

I think you will be okay just paying a fine. I believe you have to overstay by months to be banned

Thank you for all your comments... I have one more question.. immigration want a letter or contract of place of stay which we were to get within 24hrs of arrival??? We have been here over 3 weeks why do we need this letter.. we put our Condo address on our arrival card...
Robert *******
If you stayed at your Condo, you needed to report at Jomtien Immigration 24 hours after arrival. You do need this report because it is part of the Immigration Law made in 1979.

Do a search for TM30 here at TVA and look for jomtien related answers. I did my TM30 within 24 hours online for Surat Thani .

Which immigration office are you going to?

You should extend as mentioned. Don’t want to be caught on overstay! Good thing is you can go anytime and they will add the 30 days on from your visa end date, not from the day you go there.

That's good to know. Thank you

Get an 30 day extension at immigration office in your area for 1900 THB and you are safe and legal.

I would NEVER recommend overstaying a visa.....IF you happen to come across a police checkpoint and it is found you are on an overstay, you are in heaps of trouble....
