What are my options for re-entering Thailand after my tourist visa extension in Bangkok?

Would like a basic question answered please.

I am staying in Bangkok, on a tourist visa. Have just had my 60 days extended for another 30. Once that 30 is up, what are my options for re-entering with as much time as possible? Do I have to re-apply for another 60 day visa online, or can I use one of these “border run” companies, or do I need to fly away and back into the country?

Thanks all in advance for responses. It’s been my first time in Thailand. 😊

Edit: I’m from the UK.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Bangkok on a tourist visa and has just extended their stay for an additional 30 days. They are seeking options for re-entering Thailand once this extension expires, aiming for the maximum possible stay. Community members suggest that the user cannot apply for another visa online and would need to visit a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighboring country for a new tourist visa. Options discussed include doing a 'border run' to receive a 30-day visa-exempt entry stamp, which can be extended for another 30 days, or applying for a new tourist visa, which would offer a total of up to 90 days with extensions. It is also noted that consistent long stays might raise questions at immigration.

Try using a VPN connected to the UK and see if you can apply online to the London Embassy

But still needs to be out of Thailand. Or her passport will show up that she’s still in the Kingdom 🤷‍♀️

Currently in Vientiane, Laos getting a new tourist Visa for Thailand.

Need to book appointment online with the embassy, bring your papers, pay the fee.

Wait 2 days after delivering the documents and you pick up your new visa.

Laos and Vietnam allow for tourists to apply in the country, and are the most popular choices for this process.

but using a VPN would allow you to get one online, whilst still in Thailand ? Dont know just asking

@Shaun *******
there's a section of the evisa application called "proof of where you are" and they'll also want to see a plane ticket from where you're applying to Thailand.

@Shaun *******
no, it doesn't work that way.

@Shaun *******
probably not because my passport won’t be stamped as leaving Thailand. They will know I have dodged the system

She doesn’t have a METV and doesn’t need one.

Any of her plans is fine. Border bounce or visa run. If you need another 4 months, you will need to leave twice, but it’s manageable with minimal hassle.

if I do visa run/border bounce do I get one more month or two?

@Sophie *****
border bounce = 30 days visa exempt + 30 day extension.

Visa run to a Royal Thai Consulate or embassy in neighbouring country for Tourist visa = 60 days + 30 day extension for a total of 90 days

I agree with

. If you happen to have a METV already then fly or go over a border and re-enter straight away.

depends on how long you've planned to stay in thailand. If it's for another month then a border run would be enough (which could be extended for other 30 days). Remember that you'll start to be suspicious if you stay over 6months and you'll might get a lot of questions when u try to get in

questions never hurt anybody. Just answer and move on

Suspicious of what? He just wants to stay longer. Either the country allows or doesn't. Nothing to be Suspicious about

suspicious to either work or run a business there.

I need to be here for about 4 for months as I’m here with my partner who is getting medical treatment (but has been asked by her clinic to use a tourist visa rather than medical one). Totally willing to leave for a month and come back to finish it all off.

@Sophie *****
Why would a tourist visa be better than a medical one?

medical one was too many hoops to jump through. Anyway, I wouldn’t get the medical visa as I am just the “caregiver” out here for support

As much time as possible would be to apply for another tourist visa from a bordering country, i think it has to be in person at an embassy/consulate but i’m not 100 sure. I’m intrested to know the same as i just extended my tourist visa a few hours ago

yes so now u can be 100% sure! 😉😉😆

You cannot apply for another visa online. If you want another tourist visa you'll need to go to a Thai embassy or consulate in a nearby country and apply for a new visa in person as none of the countries in SE Asia participate in the evisa system. In order to use evisa to apply you must physically be in one of the countries that uses the system.

If you're from a visa exempt eligible country then you can leave and re-enter Thailand without a visa and you'll receive a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp which can be extended one time for 30 days.

I got my e-visa before I came online. I didn’t have to go to an embassy then
Brandon ************
@Sophie *****
Because you were physically inside of a country whose Thai embassy participated in evisa, exactly like I said. Right now you are in Thailand and you cannot apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand. And no country in SE Asia participates in E-visa so when you go there, you cannot apply online either. You must apply in person. Exactly like I said in my first response. Read first.
