Planning to arrive in Thailand in October with a Tourist Visa 60 days and extend it for 30 days. What are my options afterwards for a reentry?

a) For how long do I need to leave Thailand to apply for another Toursit Visa 60 days? Is it possible at all?

b) Visa runs still possible? Leaving Thailand for 1-2 days and reentry? For how long can I stay in Thailand afterwards? Only 30 days?

Thanks for your help and patience.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After your initial 60-day Tourist Visa in Thailand, you can extend it for an additional 30 days. Following that, you have several reentry options: 1) You can apply for another Tourist Visa at a nearby consulate, although frequent applications may raise flags with immigration. 2) If eligible for visa exemption, you can exit to a neighboring country and return for another 30-day stay (limited to twice a year). 3) Alternatively, consider an education visa for studying Thai or Muay Thai for longer stays. Visa runs are possible if you fly in from international airports, providing another 30 days upon reentry, but are subject to specific conditions.

There is 60 days stay visa that are multiple entry for 6 months. I think the original idea of "visa run"was to leave within 60 days and come back. Getting a new visa or enter again on except isn't the same

Now, i always like to consider that doing a Visa run, or extrention is as costly as just going to another country and stay there a month.

Not sure why people insists on staying put in one country all the time.... (If you're not working illegally, or trying to "live" there)

I went to Thailand and got my VOA for 30 days then I fly out to Singapore for a cruise then fly back to Thailand to get another 30 days of VOA so I got 60 days in Thailand. I'm not sure if this can be kept on going like this for sure but I think it should work. Just keep flying to neighboring countries then fly back. BTW, it only works when you fly into an international airport to get 30 days VOA. If you travel by land you only get 14 days.

Couple of points that you’re mistaken about. You didn’t get a Visa On Arrival for 30 days. You got a visa exempt entry. For those citizens that buy a Visa on Arrival they get 15 days.

The 14 day rule for land border crossings stopped years ago. With a visa exempt entry by air or land you get 30 days. For land there is a limit of two per calendar year.

, that’s good to know. Thanks for clarifying. Yes, it’s been awhile since last time I did that. BTW, do you have a link to information to official site I can confirm?

Sorry I don’t have any official links. Perhaps this may help. It’s an unofficial translation of the Thai immigration law.

After the 90 days your options are to exit Thailand and apply for another tourist visa at a nearby consulate - there is no technical limit on how many you can get back to back - but at some point either the embassy where you apply or immigration will red flag you and possibly won’t let you enter.

If eligible for visa exempt you can do a border bounce where you step out of Thailand at a convenient border crossing and come straight back in and get stamped for another 30 days (extendable for 30). There is a limit of two per calendar year for that though.

You could also look at getting a education visa for studying Thai or Muay Thai.

Your profile pic doesn’t put you at over 50 so unfortunately your options are limited.

Sorry I don’t. I think they’re cracking down on the ED visas but there may well be someone who knows of a place that can help.
