Please advise:

I (Belgian national) came here on a 2 month tourist visa, which I extended 30 days, then I did a border run at Myanmar, for another 30 days stamp (visa exempt I think it's called). So I have been here almost 4 months now. Is it advisable to:

1. get another extension,

2. do another border run, or

3. leave the country for a few weeks/months and get a new tourist visa

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Belgian national currently in Thailand is exploring options to extend their stay after using a tourist visa and a border run for visa exemption. They inquire whether to get another extension, do another border run, or leave the country to obtain a new tourist visa. Responses indicate that it is possible to apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office, perform another border run for a new entry, or leave and apply for a new tourist visa. Concerns about overstaying are addressed, noting that the individual's stay does not yet indicate a problematic history with immigration.

So happy you asked basically my question. I came on 60 day SETV and did border run at Mynmar now want to see if can extend. Sounds like I can! ๐Ÿ˜ ? Already been in country for 5 months beginning of this year.

There is no limit on how long you can stay inside Thailand using valid visa and/or valid visa exempt entry. Immigration is only asking questions if you have a longer history of living inside Thailand, these are the proof of funds 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in CASH, proof of accommodation and onward travel.

Yes, thanks. I was just worried that maybe this is too long a stay and might cause problems

I would say with only one setv and one visa exempt entry you've a fair while before it'd be considered "extensive" history of using tourist type entries.

You can apply at your local Immigration Office for a 30 day Extension of Stay, you can do your second border run for a new 30 day Visa Exempt Entry this calendar year, 1 Jan it will reset to 0, or leave and get a new tourist visa to come back. So all is possible, it depends I guess on how much longer you want to stay inside Thailand.

You can get a 30 day extension on your last visa exempt entry at immigration office - same process as the extension on your initial setv
