Hi guys, I arrive in Bangkok next week and will get 45 days of free entry into the country + a 30-day extension.

My question is, if I want to stay in Thailand for longer than 75 days, is the best option a tourist visa?

If so, is it fine to apply for a tourist visa while I am in Thailand for the 75 days since it is an online application?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their stay in Thailand beyond 75 days, considering their initial entry through visa exemption. They inquire whether applying for a tourist visa while in Thailand is possible, given that they will already be there for 45 days plus a 30-day extension. The comments clarify that a tourist visa must be obtained before entering Thailand, and suggest alternative options such as leaving to obtain a visa from neighboring countries like Laos and re-entering.

I have heard from costumer service of Embassy that you cannot apply for Thai Visa if you’re located in Thailand itself. Well, it is indeed eVisa so I was wondering too if we cannot just try do it. If anyone did I’d like to know if that works!!

But I just found out you can go to Laos which isn’t really expensive from Bangkok, stay there for a day or two and apply there for the tourist visa. Thai embassy in Vientiane accepts all applies and what I have read from other people experience you will even got the visa the next day. On the site it states 2 working days (except on holidays) so I’m not sure. But spending 2 or 3 days in Vientiane doesn’t sound bad, can explore the city. I plan to expand my 45 days with +30 days and then do that and apply for just normal tourist visa to stay longer.

As

says you'd have to leave Thailand to activate assuming you're granted one so why not re-enter Visa exempt again (30 days) and extend or do you want to stay more than 135 days?

Great strategy! Nothing like waiting for airfares to increase to get 15 days!

Can hope, but I wouldn't be making any plans around a "fingers-crossed" strategy!

I didn’t know you can use the visa exemption again for 30 days after March 31st.

I thought the whole visa exemption programme is scrapped after March 31st so the only way I could extend my trip would be to get a tourist visa after the initial 75 days is up.

But from what you’re saying, once I finish my 75 days in Thailand, i can leave, and renter with a 30 day exemption + 30 days extension?

The only thing which is changing on April 1st is the visa exempt concession is reverting to 30 days from the present 45 days

Your question doesn't makes sense because you use a Tourist visa to enter the country. Applying for it while you're here wouldn't help you at all.

But also you cannot get a tourist visa from Thailand, you have to get it before you come here.

If you enter visa except BEFORE April 1st you'll be stamped in for 45 days + 30 day extension as you said.

If you get a tourist visa before coming to Thailand you'll be stamped in for 60 days + 30 day extension. So getting the visa would give you 15 extra days.
