So i‘m coming to the end of my 3 month tourist visa in Thailand. Im looking to do a border run to KL by the 11th Sept. Ill be coming back to Phuket to finish my dive instructor course after a couple of days in KL.
Any information on the visa when I re enter Thailand? Is it an automatic 90 day visa or will I need to apply for this before I leave? As the 30 day one won’t be enough as that’s what Im expecting to get on re entry? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks👍🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is nearing the end of a 3-month tourist visa and plans to do a border run to Kuala Lumpur (KL) before returning to finish a dive instructor course in Phuket. They seek advice on visa options upon re-entry to Thailand, expressing concern that a 30-day visa may not suffice. Suggestions from the community include applying for a one-time 30-day extension before leaving, entering Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days with a potential 30-day extension, or applying for a new tourist visa in KL for 60 days. Clarifications regarding the actual duration of their current visa stamp and the necessary steps for obtaining a new visa are also discussed.

In KL you can get a new 60 day TV at the RTE. You must make an appointment as they don’t accept walk ins at all. If approved, will be ready in 24-48 hours after your appt
Have you already applied for your one time 30 day extension? If not you should do that before you do a border run.
For leaving you have 2 options:
Don't get a visa and enter visa exempt (30 days) and you can apply one time for a 30 day extension giving you an additional 60 days total.
Or apply for a tourist visa while you're in Malaysia. You'll need to check the website of the consulate you plan to use to see if they require an appointment and what their requirements are. This would give you 60 days and you can apply one time for a 30 day extension giving you 90 days total.
Ive found the relevant visa paperwork on their website. I know I need to make an appointment but cant see waiting times to get the 60 days visa approved. Will they do it straight away as I’ve got an ozzie passport or could its take a day or 2? I couldn’t find this info out on their website. Cheers again!
please note when they say they require proof of paid accomodations for the entire stay with the tax ID number of the owner they're serious. Many reports of people being denied visas from the locations that require this.
read the requirement. Proof of payment for accommodation for entire stay (meaning from the date of your ticket to Thailand until the date of your ticket out of Thailand that must be within 60 days of arrival not 3 months) along with the tax ID number of the owner. This is so they know you're not just making a reservation and will cancel it. They want proof it's been paid. Proof of who it was paid to.
Is there a way to get long therm visa with less ridiculous requirements? Asking because i always travel without having plans and for sure cant stay on the same location all the time
