What options do I have for extending my stay in Thailand after overstaying my visa?

Hi, can someone give me some advice please? I arrived in Thailand on 7th June, believing I had a 90 day visa - my travel agent had assured me that I had. It turned out I only had a 30 day visa, but by the time I realised (my fault, I should have checked) I was 27 days beyond my expiry date. I then flew to Kuala Lumpar and back. Since then I have had 2x 30 day visa extensions from Krabi Immigration either side of another return trip to Kuala Lumpar. My visa expires on 28th November. I would like to stay til end of January 2020, but I am aware I have already left the country twice for visa extensions. Is it feasible for me to get another visa (60 days), and if so how should I go about it, or should I head back to the UK and try and come out again at the end of January on a 60 day visa? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user initially believed they had a 90-day visa but discovered they only had a 30-day visa, with their stay extended through multiple border runs and visa extensions. They seek advice on the feasibility of obtaining another tourist visa or whether returning to the UK to apply for a new visa would be a better option. Comments suggest that due to an overstay, getting a new visa may be challenging, particularly from certain consulates. They discuss the possibility of a border run to Malaysia followed by another extension at Krabi Immigration.

Hang about. :O With that overstay stamp in your passport you aren't gonna be able to use the thai consulate in Penang as they won't sell tourist visas to anyone with an overstay stamp.

AND

You might not be able to get one from Vientiane either..

On every new entry like the visa exempt entry or with a tourist visa you can apply for a new 30 day Extension of Stay.

. I don't want to return to the UK around Xmas/NY due to flight prices. If I did the Malaysian land border run towards the end of November, can I then get a further 30 days at Krabi Immigration at the end of December? So that I fly back to the UK towards the end of January? I've already had 2x 30 day visa extensions from Krabi Immigration after flying to Kuala Lumpar and back.

if you leave by a land border and come back without a visa you can get the free 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, which is also possible to extend with another 30 days at Immigration. You can do this twice a calendar year. Not sure what you mean with hate to take a day out, the way to the Malaysian border has some nice views, very nice cities to stay for a night. They will ask to show the 20.000 Thb in cash as proof if you return into Thailand.

. How likely is it that I would be able to extend if I drove to the Malaysian border? I'd hate to take a day out and only to find I get rejected. Also, at the land border can I extend for 30 days, or is it less? (15 days)

how about border runs...??? He has has none yet in 2019...and 2020 is near. Forget trying to get a Tourist Visa.

I'm starting to think he didn't overstay 27 days but he was here 27 days after his initial visa expired i.e he entered about 2 months after a TV was issued.

Thanks. Do you think it a safer bet for me if I return to the UK and come back out in January, having bought a single entry tourist visa at the Thai embassy in London?

, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Bharu Malaysia, Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam.

Meet the requirements get the visa, don't meet the requirements don't get the visa. it all comes down to where you wanna go and if you can meet the requirements of that particular consulate

, I'm just reading through the requirements now.

I think your travel agent mistook the 90 days on your visa to ENTER Thailand for the duration of the visa. Many people do if they are not aware.

As Tod said, getting a 60-day tourist visa from a nearby country is probably your best option.

Is your entry history

Visa exempt + 27 day overstay

Visa exempt + extension

Visa exempt + extension

. Which Thai consulate would you recommend?
Tod *********
Okay, you are confusing quite a few things.

IF you fly into the country without having bought a visa from a thai consulate BEFORE you wing your way here and if you get stamped in for 30 days you're here on what's called a 30 day visa exempt entry.

There is no official limit to the number of visa exempt entries you can get flying in (but you're gonna get questioned trying to live here on them like you have been)

You can get TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31).

Why not just GO to a thai consulate in a nearby country and BUY a single entry tourist visa?

. Which Thai consulate would you recommend? Kuala Lumpar? Can you forsee any issues with them rejecting me?

Sounds like you need to get up to speed on what stamp you're actually here in and maybe look into your passport once in a while :O

There is no such thing as a 30 day visa. :/
