Hello! I am a Canadian and flew into Thailand with a 60 day Visa. I’ve done a 30 day extension and was going to fly home next week but planning to extend my trip for another 53 days. I know I have to leave the country but for how long and for how many days will they let me back in I don’t know. What are my options? Thank you🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat in Thailand with a 60-day visa, now extending for 53 days, seeks advice on how to remain in the country. Responses suggest options include leaving Thailand for a border run to Cambodia or Malaysia, where a re-entry may grant a 30-day visa exemption, which can be further extended. Alternatively, visiting a Thai consulate in a neighboring country to apply for a single-entry tourist visa for 60 days is also recommended, with varying costs depending on the location.

Thanks all! I think it makes sense for me to get the 60 day visa in Penang as I'm on Koh Phangan

Yep visa options are the same but location in Thailand changes the best location to travel to, the cost and ease of travel and according to that...the application requirements specific to where you will apply. Good luck :)

For sure😁.... I was just asking about the visa options though, not the travel options. Although that would be good to know as well:-)

Just get a bus to one of the borders (depends where you are) from Pattaya to Cambofia, it leaves in the morning and back mid afternoon.

Just do a border run out and in no problem, Myanmar or Malaysia, can do the same day

There is no amount of time you have to be out of the country. Being Canadian if you were to go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and then stamp right back into thailand you'd get a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp which you could extend at the immigration office for 30 more days for 1900baht. That would buy you the time you need

OR

You could go to a thai consulate in a neighboring country and apply for a single entry tourist visa which would stamp you in for 60 days when you entered the country

It is still 150 RM in Penang.

@Jenny *******
, you do not have an extensive history of visa exempt entries or back-2-back tourist visas in your passport so don't worry about it.

Cost of single entry tourist visas vary consulate to consulate

Vientiane/Savannakhet Lao - 1000baht

Ho Chi Minh/Hanoi Vietnam - 40 USD

Penang/Kuala Lumpur Malaysia - 150 RM

Yangon Burma - 40 USD

Phnom Penh Cambodia 40 USD

Great, thanks so much!! Any idea how much a 60 day single entry Visa would be? Are they not making it more difficult for people to stay for extended periods by limiting the number of visa/extensions you can get in a year?
