Do I need to report to immigration if I stay overnight at a hotel while living at my wife's house in Thailand?

Hi, just a quick question please? If you leave home (my wife's house) for an overnight stay in a hotel. Does that mean I have broken the 90 days in my wife's house and do I have to inform my local immigration office, which is ROI Et?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When leaving your wife's house for an overnight hotel stay in Thailand, you do not break the requirement to live at your registered address for immigration purposes. The hotel is expected to file the necessary TM30 report on your behalf if they request your passport. However, you must still submit your 90-day report as scheduled, regardless of any domestic travel. Since the requirement for filing a new TM30 after traveling within Thailand varies by immigration office, it is advisable to confirm with your local immigration office (ROI Et) about their specific policies regarding TM30 filings for domestic travel.

We are debating two things.

1 - you will still need to do a 90 day report when ever it's due. That doesn't reset because you moved around inside the country.

2 - whether you need to file a new TM30 is totally up to your immigration office. Some do not require it be re-filed for inside the country travel BUT some do, so I'd say contact your immigration office and ask them what their policy is on TM30's and then follow it..

this is the current police order. Check under 2.2 it says inland travel doesn't require you to file a new TM30 after return at home. Only if you come from abroad. . . . . . . . . . . .

Isn't it the 90 day system that is down? That should be separate from the TM30.

the TM30 system is down, too

I thank one and all for you tremendous support on this one. I think it will be OK.

I would try to do the TM30 online. Better to make sure than try to fight it out later. The online system needs improvement though.

@Cole **********
unfortunately, the system is down since February 18th

Different immigration offices, different rules!

In Bangkok the immigration officer told me that if it's less than 14 days, then you will NOT need to report to them... But as many others already said, different immigration offices enforce the rules and regulations differently.

Check with your local immigration office. Still some offices require you to report TM30 when you travel inter-province.

Hi Ellie it was in Issan the break we took. Therefore I assume not an inter-province trip. Please tell me if I am mistaken? Thanks

The TM30 and 90 days report are two separate items.

As for the reporting of TM30... The hotel will do it if they ask for your passport. If you are with your wife....have her make the booking.

No TM30 filed...

Ask your immifratikn office for their TM30 requirements re inside Thailand travel.

Re 90 days report...

Traveling in Thailand does not change when you are required to do it.

Thanks James it was a three night stay in Mukdahan actually, but two hotels. 1st hotel for 2 nights my wife made the booking with her ID card. 2nd hotel, they asked for my passport, that is why I said one night actually. So I was unclear as to whether I have to do anything further at ROI Et immigration. Kind Regards Kenneth

@Kenneth ********
you probably do not need to file another TM30 as travel within Thailand.
