TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, if you rent accommodation for more than 24 hours, you are required to report your stay to the local immigration office using a TM30 form. You can file this report yourself or have your landlord do it. If your landlord is not in the country, you can self-file with minimal documentation, such as your rental contract and passport.

The short answer is YES, you are obligated to go to the immigration office (the one in Blu Port Mall is fine) and file a TM.30 form.

OR

as has been pointed out your landlord can do it for you too.

Hua Hin is pretty easy on letting you "self file" a TM.30 with minimal documentation.

Take your rental contract and your passport to the Blu Port Mall and see if that's enough to file with. (It should be).

The landlord is not in the country. I rented the house thru a real estate agent. What do I need to fill out the TM 30

Within 24 Hours of a Foreignor living in a Property the owner of the House where the Foreignor is staying must complete a TM30 - Also if you stay away from the House where you are Registered for more than 24 Hours upon your return the House Owner must complete a TM30 at the Local Immigration Centre

Thats great. Ubon fine the Landlord too. I think also with the new head of Immigration in place now this will slowely be brought back into line too according to national policy.

The ONLY one I know of that will even try to let your owner know that they're obligated is the immigration office in Samut Prakan. They'll fine the foreigner and call the landlord while they're still at the office telling them to deduct the fine from the next rent :O

I supposing dependent on the Immigration Centre in question. Not all fine the Foreignor. Indeed some will go after the Owner.

and parroting that the owner must do this is not all that helpful seeing as few if any owners actually do it and the person that's fined is the foreigner.

I guess it would depend on whether you stayed. Hotel they might report obligated to do so. Though many seem to forget. Private residence maybe get away with it but if stopped by law enforcement possible problem especially if long way from home. Park bench probably not needed although law enforcement could ask questions... answer is simple follow the rules.

yes if for first two examples... third is a crap shoot.

And that depends on your local Immigration Office. So best is to contact your local Immigration Office and ask this question.

when I return after a month, do I then need to report at my local immigration to let them know I am home?
Al *******
Perhaps a dumb question, but if one only left for a month to another part of the country, and returned back to their Thai home, who would know if they reported or not?
Robert *******
Or the land owner, the house owner or you, it is one of the three.
