Yes, just wanted a little bit of advice. I am married to a Thai woman, but instead of going through all of the trouble for marriage visa , I just am here on a Retirement visa. I believe it is called it a Non 0 visa, I have been here going on four years but wanting to go back to the states in April for about 90 days or so and I have to go for my yearly Immigration visit in August. Just wondering if I need to ask for some kind of a exit or reentry Visa so that I do not interrupt my retirement visa here and have to start all over. Iβm just not sure. I appreciate your advice and I know I could just wait until August and ask Immigration myself but just thought I might ask someone here who has been through the same thing. Thank you for any help. ποΏΌ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand and is planning to travel to the U.S. for 90 days. They are seeking advice on whether they need to obtain a re-entry permit to maintain their visa status during their absence. Responses from the community suggest that a re-entry permit is indeed necessary to avoid canceling their visa status. The permit can be obtained at the immigration office or airport; options include a single re-entry permit for 1000 baht or a multiple re-entry permit for 3800 baht.

I always do my retirement visa and multiple reentry at the same time. You never know when you have to go back or leave for an emergency. Leave twice its cost is covered and it stops me worrying. I had a trip planned and needed to return to my home country 2 x.
I seen that Todd had mentioned this. Also this is something that I did not know that you can get the reentry permit at the airport. Thanks for the information. οΏΌ
I would say if you looked at the stamp in your passport it would read as "extension of stay permitted until" and have a date of August 2025 <- meaning you are on a yearly extension of stay
Now to leave the country and come back without cancelling that stamp when you exit the country you need to buy a "re-entry permit". You can do that at the immigration office where you got your extension issued OR at the airport before you fly out.
A single re-entry permit (lets you leave/come back once) is 1000baht and a multiple re-entry permit (lets you leave/come back as much as you want during your stamp) is 3800baht. Re-entry permits are valid as long as your current stamp is (so if you bought one it'd be good until Aug 2026 just like your next extension would be valid for)
As you're only going to the states once in April, then will be getting a new yearly extension in Aug a single re-entry permit would work for you.
thank you very much, Todd. I appreciate all the insightful advice. I understand now what to do and what to ask for when I go to Immigration in August. I think the single in re-entry permit would be fine for me. Thank you for all of your help. I appreciate it. οΏΌπ
I got my months mixed up (seeing as this is JUNE) you won't be going to the US until April NEXT YEAR <- after you get your next yearly extension. π π so just buy the re-entry permit then when you get the new extension and you'll be good to travel during that year
apologies for me mixing up my months π
