Should I apply for a multi-entry visa or a re-entry permit after getting my pension visa in Thailand?

Greetings all I currently have the 3 months Visa that you get when you apply for the pension Visa.

Next week I will be applying for the pension Visa because the 30 days will be over.

However I just found out that next month I have to leave Thailand for a month.

Should I be applying for a multi-entry Visa or do I get the normal pension Visa and then apply for a re-entry Visa next month before I leave.

Thank you all for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently holds a 90-day Non-O visa based on retirement and is preparing to apply for a one-year pension visa. They need to leave Thailand next month and are uncertain whether to apply for a multi-entry visa or a re-entry permit. A commenter advises applying for the pension visa (extension of stay) first, then obtaining a re-entry permit to maintain the extension when leaving Thailand.

okay what I think you're saying is you applied for the 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement) and you are going to apply for the year extension of stay (when you have 30 days or less left on your current 90 day stamp)

You would apply for the year extension (for 1900baht) with the documents required (bank letter, updated bank book, copies etc)

After you got that you would apply for the re-entry permit (either a multiple re-entry for 3800baht or a single re-entry for 1000baht) <- then you could leave the country and come back without losing the year extension stamp.

thank you only one other question is there a limit to the number of times you can get a single reentry because it seems I will need to do this twice but I am not sure yet

nope, no limit to them,

Keep in mind, that re-entry stamp takes up a half page in your passport (IF they put it in sideways)

So once you get the year extension you might want to think about getting the multiple re-entry (3800 baht) and then you can come in and out all you want for the year
