I'm currently I'm Thailand on a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national. I am planning on going abroad soon for the first time since coming to Thailand 3 years ago, but I don't know how long I will be gone. When I was at immigration they I requested to see the form to apply for a multiple entry visa, in it they request that you state the day of departure and they day of return, however I don't know yet when I will return because I want to stay flexible. I want to get a 90 day tourist Visa for Vietnam and check out the country, however in case I don't like it there or something comes up I want to be able to come back to Thailand sooner. What should I do in this case?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently holds a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national and is planning to travel abroad, specifically to Vietnam for 90 days. However, they are concerned about returning to Thailand without having fixed dates for their return. Other users suggest that they can fill out the re-entry permit application form with approximate dates, as these won't be strictly enforced. They also mention that a single re-entry permit costs 1,000 Baht and can be obtained at the airport. Additionally, it is advised to arrive at the airport with enough time before the flight to request the exit stamp.

You only need a single re-entry permit to keep your extension stamp alive, cost is 1000B

Yes, that's what I'm planning to get, most likely at Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airport. I don't have any concrete plans so far.

if you're getting it at the airport it'll be the day you fly out (seeing as you can't get them at the airport UNLESS you're flying out) and you won't need a form, a copy or a photo, just pay 1200 for the single or 4000 for the multi at either airport and you get the re-entry stamped in. They charge 200 baht "service fee" so you don't need those things

Approximately how long before boarding the plane is it recommended to arrive at the airport? When exactly at what point of the boarding process can I request a single exit stamp?

Can take up to 20 minutes or si, in BKK use Departures No 2 and the Re-entry permit desk is after security, down the escalator and it's before the Immigration desks, just ask at the bottom of the escalator

Yes Graham I know I was asking the poster, he said hew was asked to do forms for a multiple entry visa, if he’s on an extension he only needs a re-entry permit not a new Visa, or is it just his terminology 🤓
Graham ******
@Anthony *****
Thai terminology not a new Visa because there isn't such a Visa for Retirement inside Thailand

I was just trying to to correct him 🤓

The dates on the form are pretty much irrelevant. I have no idea why they are even on the form. Some offices will allow you just to write “Multiple“ and leave them blank. Others will insist on you filling out some dates - even if they are just “guesstimates”.

How is anyone supposed to know on a year long multiple entry permit what dates they may be leaving and returning on say 9 months down the road.

Thanks. So I can write whatever I want and there are no consequences for me if I reenter on a different date?

@Christian ********
right just put a date in the future that you're telling them you're leaving on and pick a date before your current stamp runs out telling them when you're coming back

Just make up a possible itinerary to fill out the TM8 re-entry permit application form. You can change your travel plan anytime. a re-entry permit is valid until the same date as your current extension anyway.
