Hi

I'm after some advice regarding temporarily leaving Thailand. I have a NON-O retirement visa with a multiple-entry stamp.

One stamp states "Please contact immigration for a RE-ENTRY permit before leaving Thailand", and another states "To keep your stay permit, re-entry permit must be made before leaving Thailand"

Do I need to do this as I have a mulitple-entry stamp. If so, how do I get re-entry permit anf how long does it take

TLDR : Answer Summary
With a NON-O retirement visa featuring a multiple-entry stamp, you do not need to obtain an additional re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. The multiple-entry stamp already grants you the ability to exit and re-enter Thailand multiple times within the stamp's validity period. However, ensure that your visa remains valid upon re-entry, as expiring while abroad would necessitate applying for a new visa. It's advisable to confirm with Thai immigration officials for the latest policies.

I would ask at immigration as you prepare to cross the border. But, if you bought multiple re-entry then I would think it would be fine as long as you haven't exceded the number of exits.

Multiple it says ?

your confusion is that the stamps you get for the extension are done by one team, and it has the standard wording about requiring re-entry permits, after this was given, you elected to have a second team issue you with the re-entry permit. So you are covered, nothing more to do.

With a Non-O Retirement Visa that has a multiple-entry stamp, you do not need to apply for an additional re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. The multiple-entry visa already acts as a re-entry permit, allowing you to leave and re-enter Thailand as many times as you want within the visa’s validity period, while maintaining your stay permit.

The stamps you mentioned regarding the re-entry permit typically apply to people with single-entry visas or extensions of stay, who would need a re-entry permit to avoid invalidating their visa when they leave Thailand.

Key Points:

1. Multiple-Entry Visa: Your multiple-entry visa means you can leave and re-enter Thailand without additional permits.

2. Validity: Ensure that your visa is still valid on the date you re-enter Thailand. If it expires while you’re outside the country, you will need to apply for a new visa to return.

3. 90-Day Reporting: If you’re due for a 90-day report while you’re outside the country, you don’t need to file it. You can restart the 90-day reporting cycle after you re-enter Thailand.

If You’re Unsure

To confirm or for peace of mind, you can double-check with Thai immigration at your nearest immigration office or the airport’s immigration desk. This ensures you’re aware of any changes in immigration policies.

Let me know if you need further clarification!

sorry, but the 365-days multi entry Non-Imm-O Retirement and Family visa, got discontinued last year on October 30. The ONLY consulate left worldwide that still issues a 365-days multi entry family visa, is Savannakhet. A visa type that still has a multi re-entry permit included, for example is the Non-Imm-O/A visa. However the OP started on a 90-days Non-O visa and already is on the 1-year Extension

wrong response, as the ME Non-O visa do not get issued any more since 30 October 2023. So it is impossible that you got such a visa type

check your multi re-entry stamp. It should bear the same expiry date as the "extended stay permit" you are on. This means you can exit and re-enter Thailand unlimited times within this period before expiry

Yes. it matches. Am I exempt from needing a re-entry permit?

@George ***********
not exempt, you already have one and paid for the privilege

@George ***********
well if you paid 3800 THB for that multi entry permit, you are free to exit and re-enter as many times as you wish, until the date of expiry

Sounds like you do not have a 12 month Non-O multi-entry Visa then just a Non-O 90 day entry stamp (or a 12 month extension of stay based on a Non-O) and to keep this status live you need a re-entry permit if you leave. You get a re-entry permit from Immigration or from the airport after you vlear security before Immigration when exiting (can take about 20 minutes).

I guess when he wrote "I have a NON-O retirement visa with a multiple-entry stamp" . . he actually meant he already is on the "1-year extension of stay permit based on retirement" which is not a visa but a simple stay permit for which he bought a multi re-entry permit for 3800.- Baht

@Greg **********
Yes if he paid the 3800B multi-entry re-entry permit fee on top of the 1900B extension fee
