Do I need a re-entry permit to return to Thailand after an unexpected exit in December 2024?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Did I need to get a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand December 2024? I had to leave unexpectedly and return to the US for a family emergency.

In August 2024, I went through an agent to get an "O" retirement visa and the one year extension with multiple entry permit good until November 2025.

I am getting ready to return to Thailand and don't want to be held up at the airport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the necessity of a re-entry permit after leaving Thailand unexpectedly for a family emergency. They had obtained an 'O' retirement visa with a one-year extension and multiple entry permit valid until November 2025. Comments from the community suggest that as long as the user has the re-entry permit documented in their passport, they should be fine for their return. If not, they might need to explore other entry options.

You said in August you got a multiple re-entry permit. If that's the case you already have one and wouldn't have been able to get one when you left. Just look in your passport. If you have a re-entry permit then you have one.
