I have Non “O” 90 day retirement expiring on 5th May. Another stamp says see immigration for re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. I’m sailing from Pattaya to Indonesia on 22nd March & flying back to Bangkok from Singapore on 3rd April. Do I have to get re-entry permit before I leave Thailand or can I get Visa exempt on arrival & then still apply for my 1 year extension when I return? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non ‘O’ 90-day retirement visa expiring on May 5th and inquires whether they need to acquire a re-entry permit before departing Thailand for Indonesia on March 22nd, with a return flight to Bangkok from Singapore on April 3rd. The consensus from comments emphasizes the necessity of obtaining a SINGLE RE-ENTRY PERMIT before leaving Thailand to maintain the validity of the current visa; failure to do so will necessitate starting the visa application process anew upon return.

No if you don't get the re-entry you can of course not extend your long stay as usual. That's what it is for: to keep your current extension alive upon returning.
