Hi

I have a 1 year Non-Imm O-A Multiple Entry (retirement visa) valid to March 2023. I have been in Thailand for about 60 days and would now like to leave for 3 weeks and then return.

Do I really need a rentry-permit? (if so what is the point of a multiple entry visa)

Thanks for the advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about whether they need a re-entry permit while traveling outside Thailand with a Non-Imm O-A Multiple Entry retirement visa. Community responses clarify that a re-entry permit is not necessary if the user returns before the visa's 'enter by' date, which is valid until March 2023. However, if the visa is expired or if the reentry occurs after this date, a re-entry permit would be required.

Please examine your visa. Note the “enter by” date. If that date has passed….or if your anticipated reentry date is beyond the enter by date on the visa…you will need a reentry permit. Based on your post it appears that your visa will show an enter by date of March 2023 so you should be good without a reentry permit

Thanks. Sorry about the typo above. Should read "re-entry"

You don't need re-entry permit to enter Thailand until the last day on your visa sticker. As you say, it is multiple entry.

If the OA visa is still in it's FIRST year since issue date it is multiple entry.

If you are now past the visa valid ending date...you do need a reentry permit.
