I've just done this, setup my Thai bank account 3 months ago, deposited the 400k from the wife's Thai account. It wasn't an issue and got my 1 year extension granted today based on that.
The plan was to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa from the embassy in Australia and then extend while in Thailand using the monthly 40K Baht method but found out from this group that's not possible.
Trying to figure out a way of still going now, saving the 400K Baht while in Thailand with enough time for it to be season to apply for the Non-O then the extension.
it would be the initial 90 day Non-O spouse visa (not extension). Just trying to work out if I can land on the visa free 30 days and apply or just apply for the multi year Non-O visa upfront
Cheers Ryan, I'm sure that would work but we had lined up plans based on what was available on the immigration and embassy sites, which didn't mention the need for the 12 month history.
That's one thing we're looking at, another complication is that our youngest daughter doesn't have her Thai citizenship yet (agian, covid restrictions) so she needs to be included in my first 90 day Non-O as an Aussie then get her Birth Certificate and Passport sorted after we land. Again, the Canberra embassy advised we'd need to then leave and come back in on her Thai passport so the Mutli-entry Non-O visa may actually make one thing easier.
