Roberto Moonshine He meant about the rubbish internet and expensive cost of living especially the basic commodities. Vegetables are expensive than the meat..triple the price now in the Philippines while meat becomes cheaper. Your 1k baht in the Philippines will go no further there while here in Bangkok, you can buy a supply of groceries. You have to make at least 2k usd to live decently in the Philippines.
Phil Jones? Bangkok looks like a slum area in Makati City. Have you been there? The pollution here and rubbish is astounding compared to Central Business Districts in the Philippines.
Delvonte Arnold yes if PH has a better internet. But the food in PH is so diverse once you get out of the city Western fast food, grateful that there's no stinky food stalls cluttered around the business district - I lived in Makati. Better go explore the outskirts, there's more hidden gems.
Consulates can't help you with the visa here. Most of them gives advice only, can go as far as authentication of your contract, renewal of passport or reporting abused of employers etc. Their main focus is to represent your country for socio economic purposes through tradeshows, expos, luncheons, all affairs that requires spending money but not on their citizens 🤣🤣🤣. You need to post your queries to the visa agencies or look at the immigration requirements whatever is your country of origin.
I'm a Filipina based in Bangkok, also lived in UK, relocated due to work. The suggestions to bring her to Thailand and process via VFS is 🚫⛔. Even going to Thailand for the first time just to get through to the Philippines immigration is most likely she will be denied. The VFS in Makati can do a better job once she's all set with requirements.
Your wife's first hurdle - does she have a job? stable income in the Philippines? If none, it's a huge problem. Mostly the reasons why applications get denied. Hence, they use agencies, pay ££££ a lot of money to bring their gf, wife to UK as long term (agencies fronting as employer or insurance on behalf of the applicant) and only 5% of these applications are approved.
I'm only pointing out that it's a mistake for those who are bringing their partner first time outside the country as a "fiancee/sponsor visa". The Philippine Immigration and VFS are totally no-no, they frown upon on, automatically doubtful on this set up since it has been going on for years. They are tired of human trafficking, mail order brides, employers abuse stories that's why they are so rigid with Filipina going overseas first time especially with a foreign partner financing everything.
Let them be tourists first, go to easy EU countries that are lax in visa, attend workshops and conferences as business trips and come back as normal. Once that's established, it will be easier for them to get approved - I know this advice is not sensible for those who have limited resources and timeline. Goodluck, it's a long way to go.
oh hi Pete, yes not talking about residency in PH but as being tax there, you have to hold a TIN through business or property ownership which also same grants you as resident status. Am I right?
It's been a long history of Filipinos working overseas, not just nurses - Philippine government has used this opportunity to trade dollars in exchange of Filipino labour. And the media has been spreading a lot of negativity about how poor it is to live in the Philippines and so on, so mostly naive and idiots who have never lived outside the Philippines always think that other countries are better. Even though they are earning peanuts working in farm somewhere in Australia or Sweden while they are engineers or teachers in the Philippines. This has been the mentality that's why Filipinos plan seriously to move, live and become a citizen of another country.
I'm a Filipina, it's not because Thais are more attached to their families but any individual who are already married, with kids, still living with their parents will not think what's it's like outside. As for Filipinos, as you know we are known to have flexibilities on any hardships no matter where we are - Philippines has lots of calamities all year round - typhoons, earthquake and volcanic eruptions. Always on survival mode.
