I don't have to beg brother. I could have stayed in a 3 star hotel if I wanted. My family is solvent enough to afford me that. We stay in luxurious hotels when in family trip abroad.
But I am still a college student and I am self funding this tour with my own personal savings from part time jobs. I will still have enough cash and means to support me through any kind of emergencies if it ever occurs during my tour. I have been to three other countries before. Those too were self funded. I don't like taking money from my parents for my own pleasure and adventures
And unlike westerners, the people from third world countries are not given on arrival Visa. We have to apply for a visa from our country. We have to show proof of financial solvency and adequate financial capability in order to get a Thai tourist visa.
Many backpackers stay in hostels. The ones I mentioned above actually have hundreds of reviews.. mostly positive reviews. Posted here so that I could get personal opinions from the group members. Just for some peace of mind as this is my first solo trip abroad
I wanted to stay in hostels within such a rate so that I could stay a few more days in the beautiful country of Thailand. Hence I decided to cut down on accommodation and invest the extra money on traveling around more and trying more Thai cuisine. I will be trying lots of thai street foods and thai Buffets. So the money I save from accommodations will be better spent on those. To me personally during tours, food, cultural stuff, seeing things, visiting places are always more important than the accommodation
