In other words, I would have to put 800,000 in bank for 3 months, then at next extension, I’d have to show I had the 800,
*******
,000 for the year as well as my 65,000 all year to satisfy the extension I was currently under.

yes I know. I asked Immigration here in Udon Thani when I extended my retirement last month and that’s what they told me. To change, I had to meet both requirements for a year. I wanted to do the same thing next year, just put the 800,000 in instead of the monthly, and that’s exactly what I was told. It seems different everywhere you go or even the officer you talk to.

From what I understand, on the next extension, if you change ways, you have to have had satisfied both ways for the year. Meaning, if you go from 800,000 to monthly, you would have to have the 800,000 banked then drop to 400,000 and
***
months before extension, bring back to 800,000 as well as having the 65,000 in international transfers for the entire 12 months prior. And vise versa.

yes, they allow it but I wonder how many just use those options as a way to stay here?

oh yes, I agree. That’s what I told him. People scamming the system are finding out it won’t work. I think they have been really lenient on ED visas, ie language schools, Muay Thai etc. That’s not higher education in my book.

Yep. I was talking to another guy that was on the extension and his school finished 90 days ago and his visa was cancelled soon after. He was mad and said the laws are stupid lol. Why should he have to leave after his school was finished because he still had 3 months left on his ED visa?

I have two accounts. Transfer from US into one and then transfer to the other. Like Tod said, if you make them do twice the work, they may nit pick you to death.

I lived in Nonthaburi and BKK. I asked last time I was there and Chanegwattana told me that if I come from overseas, yes. But if just visiting in Thailand, and returning to same address, then no need. The only time I filed a TM30 was when I traveled out of Thailand and never had an issue with 90 day reporting or my extensions.

does the transfers show on your BKK bank statement “international transfer?” If so, you’re good. If not, you’ll have to prove you sent the money from the U.S. I was transferring about
*****
0 bht each month through wise using my debit card and it showed “transfer from other bank”. I had to change and send from my checking acct using the reason on Wise as “long term stay in Thailand” and then it showed as International transfer.

agree. That’s why I specified Nonthaburi because I’ve heard other places require it, as I learned Monday that Nonthaburi requires other things for the 90 day report that Chaengwattana doesn’t. I guess the best thing is to take everything you could possibly need and let them hand you back what you don’t.
