Hey I’m just needing some clarification regarding what’s required to maintain a multiple entry retirement visa.

What’s the longest I can leave Thailand if I’m heading back home to the states.

Do I have to still check into immigration 90 days to maintain my stay?

Because the way I understood it, you can leave multiple times without worry.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To maintain a multiple entry retirement visa in Thailand, you can leave and re-enter the country without worrying about a 90-day reporting requirement as long as each visit is under 90 days. If you leave before 90 days, you do not need to report. Your stay outside Thailand can be as long as you return before your visa expires. The 90-day reporting obligation only applies if you have stayed in Thailand for 90 days continuously.

I’m from the U.S. you can come and go as you please. 90 day report: if you stay 90 days, you have to report. If you leave before 90 days, you don’t have to report. When you come back, starts at day 1 when you enter.

I’ve been here a year and have not reported yet because I’ve left the country 4 times and come back. My first report will be in 3 weeks as I will have been here 90 days straight

Good info. All things I’ve read aren’t really clear on how long you can exit without voiding the visa extension.

Just have to return to Thailand on or before your visa expires.

I had to leave twice to go back to the states for funerals and went scuba diving out of the country another 2 times.

, something wrong. If it's Non-O multiple entry visa valid for 1 year, your entry stamp on that visa is 90 days only and you are not eligible for 90 days report. What do you really refer?

non-o retirement visa with multiple entry

are you being STAMPED in for 90 days on each arrival into Thailand? Having to leave Thailand each 90 days ?

@James *******
no, I have a retirement visa with multiple entry valid for one year. I am supposed to report every 90 days but I have left the country due to my father passing away two weeks before I was to report the first time, then my brother in law passed away about 3 weeks before I was supposed to do my 90 day report so back to the US again. Then I left the country two more times to scuba dive so for this first year, I haven’t stayed in the Kingdom yet more than 90 days until now. I have to report by Feb 6th as I will have now been here 90 days without having to leave the country.

okay... you have a One year extension of stay based on retirement. AND you purchased a multiple re-entry permit.

That's different from having a One year multiple entry Non O Visa based on retirement, marriage to Thai or business.

You only need to do a 90 day report when you are in Thailand 90 days or more.

There is no maximum number of days you could stay outside of Thailand on a multiple entry visa other than you’d need to enter before its expiry date. In theory you could have one, enter Thailand on the day of issue and exit and not return until the day it expires. Except that would probably defeat the object of having a multiple entry visa.
Stuart *********
Multiple entry visas do not have a requirement to do 90 day reports as you can’t stay in Thailand for more than 90 days anyway.

If you have a year extension off of a visa and have stayed in Thailand for 90 days then you’d need to report.

The requirement to report stops the moment you leave. The clock “resets” to day one when you return.

IF you are on a One year multiple entry visa as Retired, Then you are Free to come to Thailand and leave as you wish.

There's NO 90 Day report REQUIRED if you are not in Thailand for a full 90 days.

Are you NOW being STAMPED in for 90 days each time you enter Thailand?

I think you may be....???

What is your passport nation?

Im from the US. It sounds like I can go home for more than 90 days and return no problem. I just don’t want to void the visa by staying too long. The info I’ve read isn’t exactly clear on this.

It’s a retirement visa. Good for 3 months and an additional 12 months. It has non immigrant stamped. On the approval stamp in the visa it states “to keep your stay permit reentry permit must be made before leaving Thailand”. Does that mean I need to get approval to leave?

@Stephen *********
,if you have a stamp that states that, you have no visa at all and and all the answers in your post has been in vain.

You have an extension of stay.

If you leave Thailand without first getting a re-entry permit, your extension (stay permit) will be void.

Yes as long as you return while your visa is still valid for Entry into Thailand. Is your visa one of the two year BA visas for business or Non O Visa based on Married to Thai or Father of Thai child or ???
