Cost of living in Au is ridiculous! Weekly house rent of $600 is considered normal. Buying a house in Brisbane for umder 1 million almost impossible unless it is a small schack in need of a reno. If you feel like steak for dinner, even going to a budget butcher and buying a whole budget rump, you mostly pay 25-35/kg. Already sliced and pre-packed, a sirloin will cost in the $45-50/kg mark. Yeah sure...sometimes you find it cheaper but in general...that's what you pay.

Passport...Australian passport are the most expensive in the world: $422! Thai passport: about a tenth of Australia.

Hi Stan. It surprises me that you would ask this as you have been a member of this group since 2017. Never the less, the Guru,
@Tod ********
has answered your question.

You can most likely get a free visa exemption for 60 days on arrival, unless you come from a country that is not on the list of over 90 countries that are approved by Thailand for the exemption. Just google "Thai visa exemption" and hopefully find your country on the list. 🙏

When you arrive, if the dtv is still not approved, they will get a visa exemption, not a visa, like most tourists. When the dtv is approved, I think they might have to do a border bounce to activate it.
