if you trust your friend and the money is not big enough to hurt YOU, don’t worry about the scams. Right now, there is a LOT of Thai people really living on the edge. The unemployment in the service industry is disastrous and if the person is a friend, I encourage you to bet on the friendship. As long as it isn’t hurting yourself.

did your recipient try to deposit the money order into her bank account at the bank and was refused?

that was the point of my WU post - compare the total amount of baht you get with the different services. It’s always a function of fee + exchange rate. Always look at the baht amount you get for a fixed $ amount (or if you want a fixed baht amount, how much you’ll have to pay in dollars.)

Does Rite Aid have an international network or are they piggy backing on a second party service?

For those in Thailand, have you seen a Rite Aid there? I can’t recall having seen one.

Western Union is convenient as well. The problem with cost is that it is a function of fee AND exchange rate.

WU allows your recipient to pick up at one the very many WU locations or he/she can transfer to their bank account. Or you can send directly to bank account.

Charge is cheaper on debit card than cc.

Get all apps and make a survey for how much you get for your dollars.

on the surface having a hard copy sounds reasonable. However, a restaurant may have to be able to prove that they checked for vaccination. Proving a poll to your app may be needed and a visual inspection leaves no lasting proof of compliance.
