My daughter is also much older being 36 years of age. My understanding is to get a Thai ID, she would need to have a Thai residence- which involves me getting my daughter name onto my "House Registration" book.
I just gotten my daughter a Thai ID by applied at the Royal Thai Consulate in the US. She was born in America mother Thai citizen & father an American. She applied for a Thai Birth Certificate in her birth country. When she received her birth certificate, it came with the Thai ID number.
Many motorcycles are not registered and many drivers are not licensed, but they are Thais. If you look Thai, you probably could get away with it for awhile until you get into an accident. That's when you will pay even if its not your fault. Seeing how the Thais drive, do you want to take that chance?
