I have recently done this. Yes the DTV visa works well and is cheap enough to get.

For me I came only on the 60 day free visa. I immediately networked and found a job as a camera man, some people find jobs as a bar manager through networking. I also found a job as a teacher, as long as you have a university degree, you can also complete a TEFL online which isn’t too difficult. Just keep an eye out on Facebook groups and do a lot of research and you will find a way to live permanently here in Thailand.

thank you. If instead of a return I book an outward flight to Vietnam will I still be granted entry to Thailand.. if I have proof of a flight leaving the country as I know you can’t enter the country on just a single entry ticket.

what do you mean exactly? Can I apply for a tourist visa and then book a cheap flight 60 days later which proves to the Thai border control that I will be leaving and then just change the visa to an ED visa when I’m in Thailand? ( I’m sorry. I thought I had done a lot of research on this matter but realise I don’t actually know too much) thank you all for your help.

if I apply for a tourist visa from Thai embassy in London, can I still enter Thailand on a single plane ticket into the country or will I have trouble as I am not showing a return ticket?
