yes, not everywhere, but in a lot of countries they accept applications from anyone who is actually within their country. To know for sure, you need to check the policy for the specific country you would like to apply from.

I have a friend who was in an accident in Thailand, broke his neck, had neuro-surgery, ambulance flight from an island to Bangkok etc. He had insurance that covered the costs of almost 2 million baht.

I strongly advice to have an insurance that covers in case of an accident.

Also, a UK citizen is used to having NHS back home... (not easy to compare with deductible on Medicare in US).

no, it means you must be in Vietnam to apply via e-visa and wait for approval.

please note that there are no such thing as "60 tourist VOA" You are mixing 3 different things up!

1. Visa Exemption

2. Tourist visa

3. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

From your text I understand that you mean 60 days Visa Exemption which is NOT a visa. It is a visa-free entry that allow residents from 93 countries to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days.

A tourist visa is also for 60 days, but applied for prior to travelling to Thailand.

Visa on Arrival (VOA) is eligible for residents from 31 countries. It is applied for upon arrival and grants a 15 days stay.

FYI - you asked about your "60 day visa", but what you seem to have meant was your "visa exemption". Please note that this is NOT a 60 day visa. It is a VISA-FREE entry, eligible for residents from 93 countries.

Laos are switching to e-visa eventually, but have not announced the date yet... (I haven't seen a date yet).

Hi Cameron,

you can use the search funtion in this group to read about other peoples experiences at the embassies/consulates in neighboring countries. Unfortunatly information as to how long it took from application to approval won't be of much use to you, since most of the neighboring countries switch to e-visa October 8. The processing time for applications in those embassies/consulates will be posted on their websites, but I'm sure it might change/vary over time since the process is new to them.

As others suggested you should consider Taipei or Jakarta if you want to apply in person and have it done in a few days.
