Travel insurance would cover that. Plus, if it's in an account for anything from a day to 6 months, it's not going to cover a 5 year visa so..

I've heard that Vietnam is a good option but I don't want to fly there and am heading back to the UK soon in any case so... Good luck.

On the UK Embassy site, it states £11,000, but I think that could change.

Thanks Andi. Are the workcation criteria different though? I can call when I'm back in the UK, but am in Thailand atm and just want to have some kind of plan. So, theoretically, one could have the 500k in the bank for one day and successfully apply. It's interesting that things vary so much depending on country of application.
