Good luck on the one day turnaround for free. One week if you're fortunate. Usually if you pay the guy downstairs 500B it's done by the following day.

Never looked at it that way, you are correct. Just so strange how something, like immigration, which should be exactly the same throughout the country can vary so much.

I just renewed my 90 stamp for the third time on Thursday afternoon. Standard government fee of 1900 baht every time it's been done. Not sure which school or agent you're using but it sounds like an expensive one.
