He's not wrong. I was married in Thailand and when we moved to the UK all we had to do was show the Thai Marriage Certificate to prove we were married.

Do I need to report to immigration if I travel to another province while on a retirement visa in Thailand?

I asked my local Immigration Office and they said the only time my wife needed to report my address was if I was returning from a trip abroad and there was no need to report when returning from trips within Thailand.

What are some embarrassing mistakes foreigners make in Thailand that others should avoid?

Driving myself on Thai roads for the first time and an oncoming driver on a single track road flashing their headlights at me. I found out this doesn't mean 'after you good sir' as in the UK but 'I'm not slowing down now get out of my way quick'.
