What should I expect after applying for a one-year visa extension based on marriage to a Thai national in Bangkok?

Hi I'd like to report my 1 year visa extension based on marriage to a Thai national in Bangkok immigration office. Maybe it would help anyone with the similar situation. :)

Fast forward to the result: I just got a one month under consideration stamp on my passport, still need to go back to the immigration office in a month. -- does anyone know if the immigration officer might call during the waiting period?

The required documents are listed in the photo attached here.

We actually missed Kor Ror 22 the first time so we had to go to the local district office to register our foreign marriage- it was a very lenthy process and apparently the experience would be varied based on which district officer you encounter. The first officer we met, she did not want to help- she denied our marriage affiditive letter which was already legalized by Thai MFA and kept questioning me why my surname is changed (my legal surname changed to my husband's last name after marriage.) The officer asked me to proof that I changed my name but there was no such name change document (I could schedule another embassy visit to get another affiditive letter stamped but my visa will for sure be expire by that time.) So....we went to a different district office the second time, and this time the officer was so much nicer - anyway we got everything done without any additional document required ( note: I provided 1) legalized translated passport 2) legalized translated marriage affidavit letter 3) original copy of marriage certificate 4) translated copy of marriage certificate (this one does not need to be legalized because the embassy doesn't certify it anymore. The district officer said we still need to translate it because they need it to be on file in Thai. We just translated by ourselves.) 5) 2 witnesses (my husband's family members with their Thai ID) for this marriage registration )

One thing I do want to point out is that, even though I am a foreign female married a Thai husband, and the document doesn't say the financial proof is needed, I was still asked to provide that by the immigration officer in Bangkok. I am not sure why. I got that ready so fortunately there was no more ask other than the latest bankbook copy.

Bangkok immigration office is busy as usual. We arrived around 9am because I had to do a bank run first and the queue number was already 38. We waited for almost 2 hours. The officer asked my husband questions like where we met and married...etc. My husband was born in the US and we just moved back this year so his Thai is not super fluent- he said it's like a military interview, he was quite nervous :P

My husband couldn't understand everything the immigration officer said so I feel we might miss some important information. I got an under consideration stamp dated the end of this month. Should we expect that anyone might call or visit us before that? Or we just show up in the immigration office on the stamped day?

Thanks for reading this lengthy report.

The police did not visit me in Bangkok, but after I moved to Samui, they've visited twice in two years, so it really depends on your province...and I suspect they just don't have the time to do this for everyone in BKK.
Masoud *******
never visited us in last few years, But I have heard some has been contacted for visit.

They usually call if some information/documents is missing during consideration time.

in short, don't worry, you will hopefully get your extension .
