Good afternoon. I've been extending my annual retirement visa for the past years based upon the 800k method. I happend to be in the German embassy yesterday on other business when one of the staff asked me why I don't use the income letter method to extend my annual visa. Apparently the embassy can issue an income letter for Thai immigration. (costs1350 Baht)
This morning I went to immigration in Hua Hin and indeed they verified this, however an additional apostille would be required for the document from the Thailand department of foreign affaires in Bangkok......very strange. Your comments would be appreciated. Thank you
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering using an income letter from the German embassy to extend their annual retirement visa, which they have previously extended using the 800k method. They learned that the embassy offers this service but found out from immigration in Hua Hin that an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok would also be required. Comments from others suggest that requirements may vary by immigration office, with some not asking for an apostille, while others do. There’s also a note about the decreasing number of consulates issuing notarized income affidavits.
