For some context, I'm an American citizen with alien permanent residency status in Taiwan, and I'm interested in enrolling in Chiang Mai University's Education Visa program. I'd like to do this via the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei. However, I just went to the Thai eVisa website, and it stated that I was not eligible to apply through the eVisa system. Any guidance on what I should do?
Just inquired about communicative Thai language course at Chiangmai Univ..it's for 3 weeks only..will it be accepted under soft power dtv in Hanoi embassy..?
Hey everyone and thanks in advance for your advice. My partner and I are in a fortunate position where we are moving to Thailand, and have the means to support ourselves while we explore our dreams on what we want to do with our lives career wise.
I'm an ecologist, and want to be able to volunteer my time and expertise but also learn from the various conservation projects going on around Thailand. I see Chiang Mai Uni has a great forest ecology department so I'll be dropping in there for a chat with the staff. If I've done my homework correctly I will need the Non immigrant business visa with a work permit to do any of this kind of hands on volunteer work. The question is, am I able to apply for this before I go to Thailand and before I've actually secured any of these volunteer ideas?
We're looking at a longer term visa option with the ability to become residents in the future
I'll be provided the required documents for a ED visa (September - January) from Chiang Mai University. However, the faculty is really busy at the moment and it's taking them a while to send me the documents. Plus, allegedely the electronic visa application takes 3+ weeks, which means that I might not be able to come right in the beginning of september like I planned.
I was now thinking if it is possible to come on a tourist visa-on-arrival and change to ED visa once I'm there. I've read conflicting information about this online, does anyone here have experience with this?
Planning to live in Thailand for a whole year on a ED visa, starting from August - September. As I’m not an english native speaker, I would like to enroll in English classes.
During my language stay in Canada, I chose the language center of the University of Vancouver instead of the usual language centers because the courses seemed to be of better quality. Does anyone know if this alternative exists in Thailand?
Otherwise, any particular school to recommend? I’m looking for a light program, preferably 2x4h/week.
Hey everyone! I am currently an exchange student at Chiang Mai University and my student visa is valid until the end of January. I would like to stay in Thailand for a bit longer, both for research/ fieldwork and for a little vacation in the south, as I hadn't had the chance to go there yet.
Do you know if it is possible to change my visa to a tourist visa? And if yes, how? I've tried to google, but nothing came up. I would also have the option to apply for affiliated researcher status at CMU, however that doesn't guarantee an extension and it would also be way more complicated for me compared to just changing the type of visa 😅
