What are the best English language programs in Thailand for non-native speakers on an ED visa?

Hi folks,

Planning to live in Thailand for a whole year on a ED visa, starting from August - September. As I’m not an english native speaker, I would like to enroll in English classes.

During my language stay in Canada, I chose the language center of the University of Vancouver instead of the usual language centers because the courses seemed to be of better quality. Does anyone know if this alternative exists in Thailand?

Otherwise, any particular school to recommend? I’m looking for a light program, preferably 2x4h/week.

Thanks for your input! 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to stay in Thailand for a year on an ED visa and wishes to enroll in English classes. They seek recommendations for quality language programs, ideally comparable to their previous experience in Canada. Comments suggest attending reputable universities like Chiang Mai University and Chulalongkorn University, as well as Duke Language School in Bangkok. However, some programs may not be light, offering more intensive courses.

Relative to where you want to live in Thailand but the CMU course is highly regarded. No offense - this is actually a compliment - unless someone wrote your FB post for you, your English is fine.

Yes, but it’s not light. It’s not bad either. “Thai for Foreigners” program at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.

3 hours/day 5days a week and 1hour (max) homework if you pay attention in class.

By FAR the best Thai teaching I’ve ever had and I studied that at UofM-Ann Arbor, Thammasat (another major Thai uni), and a local school in BKK.
