Is Chiang Mai considered a city/town or province? Or both? For example I have an immigration form for a Canadian application and it has a space for City/Town and one for Province.
Would it be Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai? Or Chiang Mai City, Chiang Mai?
I'm always confused by this. Sometimes I've used A. Muang as the city but I don't know if that's right.
TLDR : Answer Summary
Chiang Mai is both a city and a province in Thailand. For immigration forms, you should write 'Chiang Mai City' as the city/town and 'Chiang Mai' as the province. 'A. Muang' refers to the district level and is less common for this purpose. The conversation highlights the confusion between different administrative divisions in Thailand.
