Can I apply for a Thai tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur as an expat from a country without a Thai embassy?

Hello guys!

Have anyone here requested a tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur? I’m planing to go there as there is no thai embassy in my country. Need to now: if it is possible apply for it and wait until the next day… as it was before, pre-pandemic time. Thank you in advance. 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the possibility of applying for a Thai tourist visa at the Thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur, due to the absence of a Thai embassy in the user's home country. Community responses clarify that expats can use any applicable Thai consulate abroad, highlight potential difficulties with the Kuala Lumpur consulate, and suggest checking online for up-to-date visa processing information.

you are mistaken or confused a bit ,

The thai consulate in Peru is the thai embassy that deals with Venezuelans ONLY when they are IN Venezuala 😮

Once you are abroad you can use any of the thai consulates in the area; Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao, HCMC or Hanoi Vietnam, Kota Bharu, Penang or Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. You're not locked into using ANY of those consulates at all

I checked a few of them and venezuala is NOT on the list. <- meaning you can go to them and apply for a visa like anyone else not on the list.

There should be just the normal processing time (usually turn in the application, passport and payment one morning and pick the passport up the next afternoon with the visa in it)

You need to understand the difference of what consulate you deal with when you're IN Venezuela and the ones you can use when you're abroad already

How about stating your nationality and where you are in thailand right now? There might be a more "user friendly" consulate you can use for the tourist visa than KL

thanks for the reply. I did two visas in KL (tourist and work) 4-5 years ago. It was ok and super fast 2 days for the whole process. I know the requirements but my inquiry was more about timing, there say is 4 weeks to process (not sure If it is for those nationalities only ) and I asked them about it and they just sent me again the whole information and no response about the time. Wondering if somebody here did it recently. I’m in Venezuela and I have to send my passport by mail to Peru, so… looking for a better option 😊

I don't think Venezuela is on the list of countries that take 4 weeks, did you check the list from the website?

I also don't think anything is stopping you from going to any of the thai consulates in the nearby countries and getting a single entry tourist visa

Keep in my your experience 4 or 5 years ago is totally worthless since this covid shit show and the countries/consulates re-opened.

no, it is not but it doesn’t specify the contrary on other nationalities. I have checked the possibilities and I can’t go nearby countries because the only Thai embassy that is in charge of Venezuela is Peru… can’t do it in Europe because I need a residency there. My options are very limited, this is why I was checking process timing in KL because, as you said, 4-5 years plus COVID change the situation. I’ll continue checking my options. Thanks 🙏🏻

you are mistaken and need to read my comment below 🙁

Kuala Lumpur is NOT a user friendly consulate (and it wasn't pre-pandemic either)

Go to the website, read the requirements, and the processing times. They mention that you need an online appointment to use the consulate but I couldn't get the link to work
