Got a thai girl pregnant and I’d like to stay here…. I did 3 border runs this year and was planning on doing 1 more in the new year then applying for an education visa - then a Thai bank account - then probably an o type visa for being the child’s father…. Does anyone have any advice for me to make things a bit more simple please 😩😅

"got a Thai pregnant", "the child father". What a strange way to talk about them. You seem more interested in the visa than anything else...

Marry the woman, it's the only way and the right thing to do. Though, with your recent history as you've stated it in this post, it's highly unlikely that it's going to be easy to get in on further tourist entries, as since November, Immigration have been cracking down on those doing multiple Border Runs over a short period of time like you have.

Find a good Thai visa service....and ignore the negative comments...good luck

Use there vip entry service or visa run service …. 110% no issues going in and out of country 60 times as long as you use this agent
John **********
Your next border run is potentially problematic and you risk being denied entry on that. An ED visa is only any good if you will attend all the classes at the school in person and don't plan to leave the country while on it. Your next move really should depend on your plans for the future, you don't say if you are in a relationship with the girl or it was just a bit of a fling but if you want to live with the girl and the baby then getting married is the simplest option.

Non -o parent. Just make sure you are on the birth certificate. One of the Least intrusive visas possible for foreigners. They want you to be able to

Take care of the Thai child. I hope that you would have a relationship with the mother to help the overall situation. Best of luck

I had all the right plans, worked out?

Two daughters.

But got left in thailand with them.

That was fine, but it was hard,

And without the proper paperwork.

And a letter from her to say she doesn’t want to look after the child?

Your naffed.

When the child is born. You have a short time to register in the British embassy .

Overseas father.

Get the birth certificate, translated.

Into English.

And get the child’s first passport as soon as you can 5 years. First one.

If she bails on you?

At least you can get home with the child.

Hopefully, you will all be happy, and live your time out, enjoying your family.

But try to be ready.

In case!! That’s all.

I have been back now with my two that were 6@2.

For 12 years now.

Good luck. Get the right girl. You can be happy.

Please take care of you're baby forever. This baby now depends on you're citizenship in you're country and you. Organise it ASAP! 😊

Because when my unmarried farang dad parted n separated w my Thai mum, everything was set up so he could take me out to his homeland where i ended up being raised by his extended family. Please dont leave ur child all alone in TH if ur relationship goes south. I have a Thai 1st name and dads last name, but my dad hired a lawyer and agent to sort out my thai registration n birth certificate into English n made sure both he and mum were perfectly on both.

goodluck! And congratulations!

But of advise . Even you’re not married to the lady . When the baby is born make sure the baby has your last name . Amphur may say because your not married cannot have farang name . This is a lie . It happen to me

But must have your last name translated into Thai for amphur for the birth certificate

you cannot get parental rights for the child if it is born out of wedlock, your name on a birth certificate does not cut any ice on Immigration unless you go through an agent and pay a hefty sum of tea money +

If your intentions are to take care of the child the Visa is not important what you need to do is marry the girl you will hear a lot of people tell you that's not the right thing to do but those fools are just there for the fun of it children are not fun they're a big responsibility

Yes, go have the baby in your home country and give the baby your country citizenship. If not, you are at.risk of becoming kind of an slave.

and how is that? He's created a child, he has a responsibility to stand up to his responsibility. That's not being a "slave". Hopefully he'll ignore your nasty comment. I'm sure he'll do the right thing by the lady and the child. Not all men have such little respect for women as you seem to.
Claudio ***************
@Lynnette ******
have a child in Thailand, as an illegal migrant, with a Thai man, not being married, then dive into the legal system of Thailand, and we'll see. Happy new year Lynnette.
Tylah ****************
@Claudio **************
your 100% right. But even with full parental rights the woman can still use and abuse you. Been there... police don't even care to help even when there's evidence of child abuse.. they just say the child should be with the mother and blindly assume all mothers don't abuse their kids or use their kids as pawns for money.
Graham *******
@Tylah ***************
correct if you know you know
Lynnette *******
@Claudio **************
illegal migrant? What crap are you talking about. He is going to be a father, this is his child, he can remain legally in Thailand and help raise his child. Perhaps where you come from children are unimportant.
Brian *********
@Claudio **************
serious question. Why not have the child here cheaper then just apply for back home citizenship after child Id born? Genuine question
Claudio ***************
@Brian ********
because there are too many IFs. If citizenship can be given by the father. If the country gives it to overseas-born in absence (via consulates). If you are going to marry or not. If the mother, when the day arrives, will sign. If her family agrees for her to sign.
Peter ***************
What a mess

they also do long visa if you come in to do an official Thai language course. This or the Muay Thai course would allow the author more time in Thailand.
Brandon ************
@Greg ********
because there are 2 types of visas you can get based on training Muay Thai
Matthew *********
@Greg ********
they have like schools you sign up for like 1 month and so on

And you’re able to get a lengthy visa with it if I’m not mistaken

Can't open Thai bank without a 'o' visa, so if you get Ed visa will near impossible to open the bank. If you want the 'o' rights do right by the girl and marry her.
Kurt *************
Get a dtv or ed visa.
Brandon ************
You're not going to get annual extensions based on being the father of a half-Thai child. You're not married, which means you don't have parental rights when the child is born.

To have parental rights, you must be married when the child is born and your name must be on the birth certificate. If neither of those is accurate when the child is born, you have no parental rights. It requires a long time in the courts, and a fair bit of money to a Thai lawyer, in order to obtain those rights.

And even then, you must have custody and be a caretaker of the child in order to qualify for an extension based on a Thai child.
Richard ******
@Brandon ***********
fortunately in 1969 my Thai wife of 56 years we married just before my son was born and my name is on his Thai birth certificate otherwise I was told I would have to adopt him if we did not and it would not be easy.
Chizel *******
@Brandon ***********
no need to be married. Just need the Khor.Ror.11 form from the Amphur. Some may provide it without the court documents. My Amphur required the court documents which doesn't take long to obtain.
Brandon ************
@Chizel ******
I never said there was a need to be married. Just that the child had to be legitimized with parental rights granted to the father in order to use that for an extension.
Chizel *******
@Brandon ***********
I must have misinterpreted your comment sorry.

@Brandon ***********
Just want to say thank you and Merry Christmas for all the help you bring people in this group. I hope you have a good New Years and 2026
Greg *********
@Brandon ***********
The only reason I ask this as I've had a child out of wedlock and when I went to see see a Lawyer about going through the courts to legitimize my child, it was was stated that I would gain full paternal rights if I get married which would be the easier option
Sasi ************
@Greg ********
NO, you will not gained FULL parental rights even you are officially married to the mother. Thai law gives mothers benefits when it comes to parental rights. Even if you married but if a mother said you’re not thd father, to contest you must go through the court that’s required DNA testing.
Brandon ************
@Greg ********
It might be possible. But I've never heard of anyone doing it.
Greg *********
@Brandon ***********
Do you automatically gain parental rights if you marry the child's mother after the child is born?
Tylah ****************
@Greg ********
BEFORE not after the child is born.
Greg *********
@Tylah ***************
That's not true, if you get married after the child is born, the father is required to inform the registrar of a legitimate child along with the marriage registration application. The registrar at the district office will issue a marriage certificate stating that a child is legitimised by the father through the marriage between the parents. This is certainly the case in Chiang Mai
Brandon ************
@Greg ********
No. As I said. You must be married, and your name must be on the birth certificate. Both of those must be that way when the child is born. If either is not that way, then you do not get parental rights and must obtain them through the court.
Per-Arne ***********
My gf and I wasn’t married, I had my name on the birth certificate ( BDMS ) and went through the juvenile court to obtain parental rights and apply for passport in my country of citizenship for my child as well. Straightforward and easy process with the court. Yes it took some time but no cost and no lawyer required
Adrian *****************
I have my non o visa based on my daughter and I'm not married to her mum but I am on the birth certificate,had to prove relationship with photos at home etc and have the 400k in the bank.
Brandon ************
@Adrian ****************
Also, your post isn't really relevant because you used an agent. They skip requirements through "extra" payments to the officers.
Brandon ************
@Adrian ****************
And how old was the child? The information I outlined is for infants. Once the child is older you can just do it at an amphur office. But based on the post, the op cannot wait ~8 years for that
Daniel **********
My kid was legitimized at age 5.
Adrian *****************
My daughter was 6,yes after the child is 7 I can go to the amphur and get the paperwork needed but as long as I could prove my relationship with mum and we lived together,provide photos and a birth certificate with my name on we were good.
