Can I apply for a DTV visa in Thailand using fintech statements instead of traditional bank history?

Hey, can y’all please not be rude. Thank you 😭 My situation is a bit complicated and hard to understand if we don’t come from the same background/nationality situation

So I’m originally African, living in Saudi with my family. I’ve been working online as a freelancer for years. I do have a normal local Saudi bank account, but I NEVER used it for freelancer client payments and never will. In Saudi, immigrant residents are not legally allowed to freelance the same way locals are, and if the bank sees international client payments coming in, accounts can get frozen fast. That’s why I can’t just “use a normal bank account” like people usually suggest

Second problem: I’m Sudanese, and because of sanctions/issues, a lot of international banks + fintech services either block us completely or make things extremely difficult :/

So for years I’ve been using an African fintech USD account instead. I currently have around 20k USD in savings.

I also live in an abusive household, and honestly I need a way out.

I visited Thailand twice already and genuinely feel like it would be the best place for me to move to long-term. I know laws are different there though, which is why I’m asking carefully before I risk everything.

My question is: has anyone here with a similar situation applied for the DTV visa using mainly fintech statements/receipts instead of traditional bank history? Like proving income/payments through fintech records only?

I also want to avoid applying through the Thai embassy in Saudi because their rules/process seem stricter and inconsistent. I’m thinking of applying from Malaysia instead.

Do y’all think there’s still a chance I could get approved for the DTV with my situation, or is this likely to become a problem? This honestly feels like my only way out right now.

If you don’t follow the law in Saudi Arabia regarding work, what makes you think you’ll obey the law here? Unfortunately you’re the kind of tourist the Thais are trying to keep out. Keeping legal in all aspects of the law & society is important here; especially as a tourist.

I'm an African, I applied in my country with my local bank account and was approved without issues.

I know an African lady who applied in a SEA country as a tourist and her visa was granted.

In both cases, there were no additional requirements, no delays, no nothing.

Being African isn't a problem. Your only problem is that your country has a lot of political restrictions.

As your case is very unique, don't move.

As you want to apply in SEA, make a list of thai consulates in all SEA. Then, buy an international data plan, call each one of them and ask them directly if they process Sudanese passports.

By the way, I strongly advise that you don't move to Thailand first on an ED or anything else, nor use an agent.

If you arrive on an ED visa, when it will be time to switch to the DTV, you will need to go to a neighboring country. If this country doesn't process Sudanese passports, you will be cooked and let me tell you that no one will come to your rescue.

For the agency, it's pointless.

I got my visa without help. Same for the Africans on DTV that I know.

If your documentation is clear, you don't need them. And they will probably overcharge you under the disguise of "difficult country".

Focus on finding an embassy which processes your passport and you will be fine 😊

Go to Cambodia, way easier.

In this instance most people would use an agency who can help them with their documentation. It costs about the same as a 1 year education visa so I’d try that.

Go to Jakarta Indonesia instead of Malaysia. They are less strict

While Malaysia embassy is strict on requirements, they do answer emails. If you email the specifics of what you can provide in an application, they will likely tell you via email if you are/are not eligible. It will save you a trip and additional stress. Just keep the email very short and specific. Good luck in your situation.

Some previous posts in this group suggested not to apply from Malaysia. Perhaps consider Vietnam as someone above suggested, or Laos - I believe they interview all applicants which might work in your favour. Also, consider other visa types which might be easier to get. I wish you good luck.

Welcome to Thailand.

You case bit complicated. They are very strict for physical bank accounts.

You can come and get 1 year language Thai study visa . It cost you around 2000 usd for 1 year depending upon language institute.

Later on you can figure out .

Some agency in Bangkok , they help with documentation for DTV as well.

Mostly they will

Send you neighbors country to process DTV

PrettyFlamingo8432 Good idea. Come first with an ED visa and then open a Thai bank account which you can later use to apply for the DTV. It has become more difficult to open a bank account with a language school ED visa recently but I think it's still possible.

Be careful that some nationalities are excluded from applying in certain SEAsian nations. Normally African countries are targeted with these measures and African passport holders are asked to apply at their home embassy which is obviously impossible as Sudanese right now. I know for some Shengen visas for example Sudanese must apply from nearest respective consulate which last month may have been I believe Ethiopia but not sure. Check carefully. Some successfully apply with fintech if you mean Wise/Revolut if all invoices match the payments in the bank statement should be ok. Be careful that Malaysia Thai embassy also asks for lots of supporting docs like certified company registration documents and tricky things (search in the group). Good luck!
