Is Savannakhet the only option for a Non-O visa based on marriage without proof of funds?

Seoul is no longer providing Non-O multiple based on marriage, only single entry visas will be given. Good thing I emailed them to ask before I booked my ticket. I went last year and had no issues so this was my plan but not any more. Is Savannakhet still the only other option in SE Asia to get Non-o M based on marriage w/o proof of funds?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the recent change in the issuance of Non-O multiple entry visas based on marriage at the Thai embassy in Seoul, which has shifted to offering only single entry visas. Users confirm that currently, Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh City are the only locations in Southeast Asia where a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa can be obtained without proof of funds. The conversation highlights differing policies between Thai embassies and shares experiences regarding the application process.

Thanx go to the O/P

for the heads up, so that means ONLY Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh City offer the year long multi-entry Non-O visa without proof of funds. Penang and Yangon will issue yearly, multi-entry Non-O's WITH proof of funds (no seasoning required and the money can be in your bank in your country).

We're done. :)

I do not understand how individual embassies of a nation can offer different services in different locations. Shouldn't the visas on offer at all Thai embassies be the same, as set by Thai governmental policies?

First visit 8 years ago. Then we went for the spousal visa 4 years ago. We stayed 3 years and had no hassle with extending her visa and finally last year she got permanent right to reside. We've moved back to Thailand now and it seems harder to get the spousal visa for me now. I got a 1 year multi entry from KL about 6 years ago no problem. Apparently Savvanakhet is about the only place that does them now. Guess I'll get heading there when I get onshore...

@George ******
I guess that was many moons ago. You'd have serious hassles getting your wife back to the UK now.

George Milne Why do you not apply than for the Permanent residency or citizenship, after all you live in Thailand for over 20 years, you could have a Thai Passport 17 years ago.

I have always found investing here and later living to be very easy and straight forward...30+ years and counting.

I'm not a newbie, I've been in Thailand for over 20 years. I just think people like myself who are married to a Thai, have a good income and no interest in working and can prove all of the above should be granted visas more readily. Seem to have to jump through hoops just to come and spend my money here and my life with my family. Its bollocks. When I took my wife to the UK to live for a while we met the criteria, and had absolutely no hassles at all getting 6 month visit visas, then subsequently on other visits spousal visas and eventually permit to reside permanently.

The Visa system in Thailand is very easy, compared with Europe, the US and other countries.

@George ******
they used to "make it easy" but the Embassys' have pulled many consulates into line, the UK being a prime example. Plus making it easy also gives undesirables a much greater chance of entering the country, no one wants that, Im sure you wouldnt want that in your country.
George *******
Seems pathetic for a country with such a large population of expats who don't work, don't want to work and do nothing but pour money into the economy. You'd think they'd make it easy.
Steve *******
Many consulates seem to be run on a franchise basis, many dont have any thai staff and even the consular general isnt thai

Welcome in Thailand. Some Embassies follow Government guide lines others don't and to make it worse: Immigration Offices do the same, some enforce more rules than others. Is this only for Visa, no This Is Thailand. Today you drive without helmet and the Police smiles at you and tomorrow his colleague fines you 500 Thb. Welcome and enjoy.

Thanx for pursuing that
@Bobby ***
(y) I really appreciate it a great deal. That means right now there's only Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh City that issue the year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage without proof of funds.

Is easy. Just make sure you have a letter written by your wife saying you are married. Past that no proof of funds needed. Embassy is quiet and fast.

Thanx for the update (y)

They never listed that a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa was available on their website that I am aware of. It was just something they sold people who applied for and charged 200,000 KRW for it.

when i went last year, they didnt say a word to me. i was in and out both days (applying and then pick up visa) within 2 minutes

maybe someone else can email asking about it and see what they say. or in a few days i can from a different email address
Bobby ****
ORIGINAL POSTER
right. which is what i did last year, i emailed them this same email and they said yea no problem and sure enough it was no problem. but ive learned my lesson by not trusting the websites of these places anymore and to email asking for current info just incase

I emailed asking if they provide non-o M based on marriage and what the requirements were. they responded with the requirements (no funds) and then the fees for a single entry O. i responded saying, okay thanks, what are the requirements for the non-o multiple? and she responded with "If you apply here, you can only get the single entry visa."
Bobby ****
ORIGINAL POSTER
but i did reply stating that last year i received this visa and that i am still on it and was hoping to come back to visit seoul and apply again and then i asked when they stopped providing the non-o M. so if they respond i will report back
Bobby ****
ORIGINAL POSTER
haha, i hope, id love to go back. maybe i will try and call

I would almost bet you got the wrong answer :O Unfortunately it's gonna take someone going there to really find out if they do or don't issue them.

Hmm, strange, I recall someone posting they got one in Seoul recently :/

I'd say use Savannakhet or Ho Chi Minh City then

HCMC requires a letter from your wife to the consulate asking they issue you the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa (just like Seoul used to) AND the consulate in Vietnam ONLY takes USD
Robert *******
Do you mean Seoul is no longer providing the 1 year Non-O based on Marriage without financial proof or the do not provide at all. Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh were the other two without financial requirements.
Bobby ****
ORIGINAL POSTER
seems not at all. waiting to hear back on when they changed that
Steve *******
Apparently HCMC does them.
