Good morning everyone, I just want to know what kind of visa my son required to stay with me. He is 1 year old and born in Thailand, I and my husband are working here and we also have work permit here, we are going to apply passport for him but how about his visa and do I need to pay his visa fees also.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on the type of visa required for their 1-year-old son, who was born in Thailand, to accompany them as they work there. Some comments suggest that it's common for children under 15 to be allowed to overstay without fines or bans. Alternatively, it's recommended that once the child obtains a passport, a Non-O visa could be applied for based on the parent's work permits, which would then allow for a yearly extension.

Some good friends of mine had children here and they didn't even bother with ANY visa for them until they were just going to start school here (5 or 6 years old).. They just let them overstay.

Lotta, those southern borders are quirky,

but AFAIK, there isn't a stamp that says a visa is required for the next entry :/ It's a notation they hand write next to a visa exempt entry stamp :(

I am not saying you are not right about the overstay fine, but I have friends with work permit and a child born in Thailand and the last time they came back from Malaysia (I am not sure about what boarder crossing but they came by car) and the immigration officer stamped the child's passport saying that visa needed next time. This happened in December 2017

, as long as their passport is from a country that gets into thailand without needing a visa beforehand yes

@Lopez ****
children under 15 y/o are exempt from paying ANY overstay fines and children under 18 are exempt from being banned for overstay

so we can also do the same just bring him with us and when he will come back just let him stay without visa

as long as the children are not yet enrolled in school they can overstay with no problem or do you still need to pay the fine?

@Vi***
, no they left and came back a bunch of times on 30 day visa exempt entries but just overstayed until the parents got them a visa for school.

So the children didn’t leave the country?

That is good but we want to visit India in summer break so we really have to apply his passport.

Honestly, while this sounds bad it's what I'd do.

Children under 15 cannot be fined for overstay and children under 18 cannot be banned for overstay so I'd do nothing and just let him overstay.

If you didn't want to do that, once you get him a passport you could get him a non-O visa based on being the child of someone who legally works here on a long term extension (either yours or your husbands) and then get him a year extension of stay based on that reason too

The 90 day Non-O visa would cost you 2000baht and the yearly extension would cost you 1900baht.

ok thanks that makes sense!

, you don't add her to your wife's visa based on work you get a separate visa for the child based on the fact the mother legally works here. Then you get an extension that matches the parent who works here.

You will need documentation from the company your wife works for stating it's okay to have the child "piggy back" onto her visa.

I’m in a similar situation. Need to get my 1 month old daughter a passport so we can visit the UK in the summer. My wife is on a work visa and I’m on ED visa. Once we get her a passport do we add her on to my wife’s work visa?
