How does Thai immigration deal with situations like these, when your flight is cancelled / rescheduled and you may run into overstay for few days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your flight is cancelled or rescheduled causing a potential visa overstay in Thailand, the general guidelines are as follows: you may incur a fine of 500 baht for each day you overstay, and an overstay stamp will be placed in your passport. It's important to take action quickly by booking a new flight. Alternatively, you can visit immigration to explain your situation, which might result in a 7-day extension of your visa. However, it's crucial to adhere to the stamped date on your passport to avoid fines.

They don't care. You need to be out by the date stamped in your passport or you will be fined for overstay. Book a new flight.

Yes. But if you are going to be coming and going it's better to not have overstays on your passport. If you have to many they may deny you entry at some point.

They deal with it by fining you 500 baht per day and putting an overstay stamp in your passport.
