Is there a way to avoid fines for a one-day overstay in Thailand?

Help,

Well I did it now. I booked my flights, paid for the rooms and now working on the insurance and found that my stay is for 91 days. Is there a way to get that extra day on visa and not be fined? We fly back to the airport on day 90 and fly out on day 91. Which looks like it would not be insured plus it is a one day over stay. What a mess!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about a one-day overstay in Thailand due to planned return flights. Commenters confirm that typically there is no fine for a single-day overstay when departing by air, though there may be a stamp indicating the overstay. Recommendations include booking a late flight to ensure departure on the visa expiration day.

What 90 day visa do you have?

Get a late night return flight so that way you clear customs the day your visa expires

1 day overstay.. Hmm. I think also depends when you fly. If you fly 90 days + 6 hours you maybe ok.

I dont think you have to worry about the insurance.

One day overstay is insignificant, and as others have said they normally waive the Bt500 per day fine if it's only one day.

Nothing to worry about at all.

Passport control will just send you to the desk behind them for a quick five minute bit of admin.

Overstay is 500 THB per day. Pay at or just after passport control

Karan Ladd. There's no fine for one day overstay. Just a stamp in your passport saying the fine has been waived. The only problem with a one-day overstay stamp is it takes up space in your passport, otherwise it means totally nothing.

What does having the "stamp" mean. Is it given only for over staying.

DavidandKim Sallee. Correct.

my mother left on Sunday from Koh samui with 1 day overstay… she had to pay 500 THB. No stamp in passport
Bobby ********
Karan Ladd..Ok. There's no fine in Bangkok

Whilst they will stamp your passport with an overstay of 1 day you won't be required to pay a fine for just 1 day!

I see that they fine you 500 baht. That might be easier than changing all the flights.

So when we fly in from Samui go to immigration and show them the flight out and the would give extension? Should I trust this or change all my flights. Plus I see now that most of the flights are filled and dates would move up 3 to 5 days.

@DavidandKim *******
i got a few 1 day overstay stamps in my passport. I used to do it on purpose to avoid long queues at immigration. Would just go straight to overstay desk.

I was flying from Samui on July 1. Staying at an airport hotel and flying out on July 2. Which happens to be day 91. Is there a place I can talk with the embassy first?
Michael ********
@DavidandKim *******
to be honest i wouldnt worry about it, you can speak to your local embassy if you wish, got no idea where you are

They dont fine you for 1 day when leaving by air.
