Good day. If this question is not for this group, please forgive me and skip...

I made a mistake with booking my flight, and now I will have an 1 day overstay. What will be the best way to resolve this error?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best way to resolve a 1-day overstay in Thailand due to a flight error is to clear immigration before midnight of your intended departure date to avoid fines. If your flight is shortly after midnight, ensure you go through immigration before the new date starts. If not, you can opt to apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office or simply pay the overstay fine, which is typically not enforced for a one-day overstay. Discussions also mention contacting your airline for luggage check-in times, and the implications of an overstay stamp for future entries.

If it is only for the original length, apply for the 30 day extension.

drive to immigration to stand in line at immigration to pay 1900 baht… or just do nothing and get a red stamp. Tough decision

agree, but as a frequent traveler to Thailand, I don't want ANY "X"s associated with me.

If not already extended at immigration get it. Or go airport day before. Grab a lounge and relax. Or pay the overstay if not planing to go Thailand much in future.

doesn't matter if planning to go in the future or not. Just pay your overstay fine and that's it

Today peoples are having problems entering with Tourist E-Visa etc and 2 trips pr year to enter Thailand. I doubt adding a overstay stamp in you passport will make it easier

no they really aren’t. Same as always. Just more people making noise on the internet. And overstay stamps are irrelevant. You have paid your fine. That’s all there is to it

Has to pass through immigration. Getting to the airport and ‘grabbing a lounge’ is not enough.

Are not all the lounges past immigration? Kinda goes without saying doesn't it?

True. Then it depends on the time of his flight.

If your flight is shortly after midnight then go through immigration before midnight, it's the date/time of the exit stamp, not the flight.

But if you have to check in luggage, then check with your airline company what time you can check in your luggage...

don't think you can get your boarding pass 4 hours early to go through the security gates and onto immigration

Electronic boarding Pass... No problem. You can get it up to 30 days prior to your flight, dependung the company.

No worries. Just go thru the airport. They will direct you to overstay counter in BKK. If only one day, you will not likely be fined the 500 baht but receive a red overstay stamp

Or if the departure time is not TOO far away from midnight, go through imm. at the airport before midnight.

Apply for an extension at your local immigration office.

agree... it is only 1 day, but most would agree it best to pay 1,900thb at immigration for an extension rather than risk getting caught within that '1' day overstay for whatever reason (traffic stop/accident/dispute on final payment etc) and get deported and banned.. also not good idea to have any 'red' stamps in your passport.
