We have toerist stamp up to march 1th (entry jan 1th). Our flight is (changed to) march 4th. So we have just 3 days overstay. Any advise or experience in the group to go for visa extend somewhere or is it easy to pay at the immigration on the airport (Survarnabhumi)?

Visit Immigration and apply for the 30-days extension. . . . . . . I would add: It is highly possible that the Immigration officer wants to see a TM30.

The TM30 is the registration of your accommodation provider/hotel/guesthouse/resort, which must be done within 24 hours of your arrival at the place where you will be staying

In case you stay privately at a friend’s house, or use an AirBnB, the friend or the landlord needs to register you in the TM30 system and you will need a printout or screenshot of the receipt

Usually the officer, when he is entering your personal data in his computer, he will see that you were registered by the hotel. It would be advisable to carry a business card of your hotel

Correct we needed some copys of yellow book and ID of the owner of our guesthouse.

If you don’t have a booking from booking or agoda you will be asked for this.

A week ago a woman staying at a small resort near are house was arrested for overstaying 2 days. We saw the police there and asked our village chief and got the details. Very bad situation.

Go to your local immigration office and extend. The cost is 1,900 baht. If you don’t then IF you get to the airport then you’ll be charged 1,500 for a 3 day overstay.

Some would question why pay 1,900 baht rather than 1,500 baht. But here goes.

An overstay stamp in your passport is rarely ever a consideration for coming back to Thailand. However other countries may see it as an issue if you apply for a visa for theirs.

If you were to be stopped by a police checkpoint whilst on overstay then a whole can of worms can open up including deportation and a ban from coming back to Thailand.

The latter would rarely happen. But it could.

Never plan to overstay. Get the extension and cover your ass. It’s just not worth the potential problems you could have if you don’t.

you need also proof of where you stay. Online booking. We did not book on online so we needed copy’s send by the owner of the guesthouse.

You will need :-

A blue pen (some offices are pedantic about blue)

Your passport

Fill out form TM7 (available at the office)

Copy passport data page (signed by you)

Copy of entry stamp (signed by you)

Copy of your visa - either the sticker in your passport or pdf evisa (the former signed by you). * if you had one.

Passport photo (most offices have facilities on site or nearby)

Three days overstay it’s not advisable, go to your local and nearest immigration and apply for a 30 days extension. You’ll be fined with 1500 baht anyway and also get a overstay stamp in your passport.
