What are the consequences of a one-day overstay in Thailand?

Hi!

I made the misstake of calculating my days of admitted stay wrong when I booked my ticket out of Thailand. As a result, I will have one day overstay when I leave. I have two questions:

1. Are there any long term consequences to having one day overstay (visa expires on the 26th, I will be stamped out of Thailand on 27th)? I’m thinking such as getting banned/blacklisted.

2. I know that once I reach immigration at Bangkok Airport I will be fine. However, I am worried that I might get into trouble as I’m taking a domestic flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (booked on the same ticket as my flight out of Thailand). Is there any risk that they will check if I’m on overstay at the CNX-airport and then proceed with detention/banning? I am after all on my way to leave the country.

I am a Swedish citizen currently on a SETV.

Highly appreciate your advice and knowledge! TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the implications of a one-day overstay in Thailand as they prepare to leave the country. They seek clarification on potential long-term consequences, including bans or blacklisting, and express worry about being flagged during a domestic flight. The community responses indicate that while there is typically no fine for an overstay of less than 24 hours, there may be an overstay stamp in the passport, and it could affect future visa applications. However, it is generally suggested that the traveler is likely to face minimal issues when exiting the country.

face it you're not the first person to overstay a day. As people pointed out there is no fine for an overstay of under 24 hours, just a thai language stamp next to your departure stamp that says overstay under 24 hours fine waived

No fine but stamp. Unless you pass the border before 27 midnight

I think there is an additional consequence, which is that you may not be able to get a tourist visa at some embassies / consulates in the region with an overstay stamp in your passport.

At the moment I have only heard of one that this applies to but that may change in future.

You should be OK.

When you clear Thai Immigration they will note your one day overstay and likely no fine.

However, if you ever foresee your buying the Thai Elite Visa, you cannot have any overstay in your history.

Relax and enjoy Thailand.

1 day over there is no fine, and problems

Unless you are connecting directly from the domestic to international flight, you'll not see immigration in CNX. if the connection is direct you'll get your mini wrist-slapping at CNX.

Alright. I guess what I worry about is that they will ”catch” me on overstay at CNX airport, before I get stamped out in BKK.

I have never been on overstay before.

okay, and if the connection is direkt and I get the wrist-thing in CNX I’ll pass immigration there and get stamped out of Thailand?
